Pulis had done nothing more than Jones has before he joined Stoke. Maybe a few more court cases... He did know how to wear a cap. And a towel. Allegedly. I know for a fact he rarely wore the towel. His preference was to stand bollock naked in the middle of the changing room with Kempo going over the match.

Well if we're not going to accept it, what do you suggest we do Dave? Kidnap them? Were probably not prepared to meet there demands, wages/budget etc And if we aren't, we look elsewhere don't we?

Number 1 turned it down ,who was number 2 and 3 ? ,perhaps Jones was number 2 all the time ?. To be fair, I think it's safe to suggest that if Jokanovic, Allardyce or Moyes had wanted the job, then they'd already have been photographed, scarf aloft, standing in front of the Boothen end. Personally I am glad it aint Moyes ,he has turned us down three times so in my book he can F off ,not convinced we ever looked at Sam ,think that was just press talk .

But if Moyes, Big Sam and Jokanovic didn't want it, there was no obvious man out there, was there? Mourinho? Personally, I’m waiting out for Zidane

I think I need keep away for a week. Some of the comments sum up a decent portion of the fan base. They will shit themselves if we start playing a free flowing attacking football home and away, setting up to win even if it means we fall short some times. They crave the Fat Sams, The Moyes of the football world. Dinosaurs and mercenaries whose game plan hasn’t changed in 20 years, who have had sacking after sacking in recent years and achieved nothing. Who play a predictable safe style of football that can put an insomniac to sleep. But we can’t be too adventurous as the big boys in the league. Then we hear about how he won’t be able to control the egos. There is barely a big name at our club, their ego will be put in check or they won’t be playing simple. Hey never mind though, he’s not been around the block for 20 years so he’s instantly shit. I mean free scoring and pretty tight in defence... fuck that nonsense. I dispair... Most sensible post this evening.

Anyone else genuinely really fucking excited? Well Luton Town fans have clearly had a MUCH better time watching their football team for the last 18 months. Can't wait. I have literally no idea what’s going to happen and it feels amazing.

KEY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ROWETT AND SUPER JONESIE
Rowett managed a Championship club and drew with a League 1 club
Jones managed a League One club and drew with a championship club
In the FA cup

Does it matter he’s only managed for 2 years. We’re crying out to be entertained and he may do that. Graham Potter is a novice but doing well, Lampard is brand new to it and it’s going well and Darren Moore at WBA had never managed before and they are top scorers in the Champ. He’s got to be better than all the Journeymen out there. Plus he would never, never have chased Maclean to the end of the earth and agreed to pay his selling club £5m and then offered him a 4 yr deal..that alone cost Rowett his job.

You can never guarantee success with any manager but the more I’m thinking about this, the more perplexed I am. If this is 2005 Stoke City, it’s probably a managerial move you’d expect us to make. Given we have only just been recently relegated from the Premier League, had one ‘up and coming’ manager literally just gone out of the door after an abject failure, replacing him with someone else who has only managed at League One level for 6 months (however successfully) is a massive call. I’m not going to campaign against it, it just kind of scares me a bit, I think. I also don’t know if it’s a positive or negative move. We appoint someone like Moyes then we know we’re after promotion but if we go for someone of this ilk, I don’t quite know what the long term goal is. He’ll get my full backing and if he comes in and turns it round then smashing. It just doesn’t feel like the right move at the right time for me. I don’t particularly won’t an old timer to come in and do it the old school way but i see more stability and chance of promotion with this squad that way than there would be with this appointment. That scary nature of this is fucking brilliant, I've been desperate to not know what's going to happen in a Stoke game for about 2 years.

Last year we were a premiership club, sorry but it's a tin pot appointment whether we have had it rough or not for the past 3 years with dire football. A club of our stature should have the likes of jokanovic banging the door down. Most of your posts are so negative. Yes, I'm most definitely missing something. Goodnight

I'm surprised how many people are failing to get this. Who do you want? New poll: O'Neil Carvalhal McInness Pardew Jones The last fella, all day long for me. EDIT: Just seen you've made pretty much the same post a minute earlier! It’s an appointment which is brave and potentially revolutionary. It’s what our worrying slide demands. Unfortunately we’re in a position where a gamble needs to be made. If he’s as hungry and passionate as he seems, and he can get the crowd feeding of that then the players will follow suit. Damn fucking right. Wins matches 7-0, 5-0, 5-1 etc and that’s exactly what we need that’s winner’s mentality.

The thing that makes me laugh the most is a good portion on here we’re creaming their pants for Potter. A guy who managed in a far worse league than league 1.
Logic...

I am as sceptical about Jones as many of you are. Maybe it is because we have just been stung by a young, up and coming manager appointment in Rowett, and the fact that, depending on your age and musical persuasion, until this morning Nathan Jones was just a song by the Supremes/Bananarama.
His record at Luton is impressive, the article on him shows he has done his time learning his trade and he could go on to be a really good appointment. Who knows? Equally, Big Sam or Moyes could have come here and stunk the place out and disappeared in the summer after a dismal second half of the season.
It is a big call. It is Jon Coates' second appointment as manager. He got the first one badly wrong. He cannot afford to do so this time.

Rather than steak we have been served shit on a mouldy bap for two years. I just want to know what vision we have in mind as a club if we do appoint him. If it’s a sea of change from the manager upwards, it could be exciting. I’m crossing my fingers that it’s a positive move that works out and brings some joy back but fuck me it’s a gamble and a half.

Three words: calibre, quality, strength. I just mind that we get someone special enough. Tone and Sparky were the only managers in living memory who pass that test. Our last two were back to same old same old. I truly believe the club want to do better this time. Three words Sal; ATTACKATTACKATTACKJust so long as we defend first do I sound enough like Tone yet??
