Really looking forward to seeing us play for the first time in a long time. Glad we havn't gone for one of the same old names which I thought we would. Well done Stoke for getting him in quick and all the best Jonesy, looking forward to us trying to win a game of football again!

A very positive appointment by the directors of Stoke City. Nathan Jones must be given time to gradually introduce his methods, and to sell and buy the players of his choice. I am looking forward to watching us, particularly at home games, for the first time in about two seasons. I am confident that the directors have dramatically increased the number of season ticket renewals for next season, as a result of this appointment.

Prey this is the breathe of fresh air that stoke has needed for so long, wouldn't mind if we see improvements in the 2nd half of the season and then really make a push over the summer and next season. Always said we would need a season to consolidate. Just be nice to find a winning streak and to have a style of play that gets you excited to go games. Dunno if I could cope with return to prem and the fear of relegation, left me scarred from all those 4 and 5 nil drubbings. Please let us enjoy this if it goes well for a while

Just watched his first interview and I like what I hear. We need an identity, a plan and a style under which we can prosper, as opposed to drifting and hoping for the best as we have been for the last couple of years.
We need to be patient and let him impose his vision. This season is probably a write off anyway, so let him have a couple of transfer windows to get his team in place and coach his vision into the squad before we pronounce judgement, eh?

Luton is Stevenage's (my hometown) arch rival. We've been getting a lot of shit due to Luton's recent rise to the promotion places of League 1 so it's nice to finally see them knocked down by a peg.

Without getting ahead of ourselves, wouldn't it be great if we scored 3 goals in Jones's first game in charge.

I have seldom been as excited by a Stoke managerial appointment. Nathan Jones is the real deal. We need to back him and give him some time to build his culture. Don’t expect miracles straight away as there are stil a lot of people picking up a pay check at Stoke who he will need to move on but given the backing he needs he will get us back to the Prem! Come on Stoke!

Half a season isn’t really enough time to build a team or ethos. I just think we need to be patient. I will make a brave prediction that Nathan Jones will be the most successful Welsh manager we have ever had! If we give him time.

My gut feeling is Jones will be a much better long term proposition than Rowett.
He seems to have a lot more about him, especially passion.

There was plenty of excitement around the signing of Gary Rowett - an up and coming manager.
The problem was his style of football was down and out - as Derby fans knew and we discovered.
What's different this time is this manager seems to believe in open attacking football. Whether he can achieve that in this league with the squad he has, time will tell. I suspect though it may be too late for this season.
Let's hope the ride is better than its been for the past 6 months (actually the past 24 months).

Out of interest, has Peter been at any games recently? Looks like the succession planning has been taking place and John has taken the reigns as of this season. Not trying to speculate but hoping it's not been because of any health reasons. Pete has been at most games this season including the last home game. He has been very quiet though and suspect you are right about succession planning. Jones said he was impressed by what Peter and John Coates outlined for the clyb when he was interviewed, looks like still involved in the process 👍

Will he need to bring players in,or can he get the best out of our current crop?
This squad is good enough for a top 6 spot, just needed someone who can make this happen.

Would love to be at training this morning. Really hope the players get into his philosophy quickly, the mood must he better than that if the last few months. Hes got 2 days to try and get a little shake up into our squad, we need a new manager bounce. Weve never had one but heres hoping.

He's very ambitious, if he does a good job for us we could be feeling like Luton fans in a couple of years but I'll enjoy the ride if he does turn us into a contender

Main thing to remember is this Saturday his influence will be pretty non existent.
He will have barely had a coaching session with them, if one at all. I also can’t imagine he will pick the team either.
Saturday is down to the players, then business starts.

Agree that it will likely be Rory and Rooster taking much of the lead, but you’ll definitely have Jones getting his say on what he likes and doesn’t. I can’t imagine him being quiet on the sidelines! Hopefully the team will feed off his energy and listen to his demands. Hope we get this fabled ‘new manager bounce’!
