The 'god-bothering' concerns me, but if there's a job and a place to make someone lose faith it's probably Stoke! Best of luck Nathan.

John Coates and Peter Coates said: “Nathan is an incredibly driven and passionate individual and we are delighted to have secured his services for Stoke City."
..... did they say that at the same time together, or Chuckle brothers style?

Welcome Nathan, best of luck.
It seems that whoever Stoke appoint, in some people's opinion they are damned for their decision.
I personally want a manager who's successes are in front of him, not in the twilight of his career with a mixed bag of a past. I welcomed Rowett's appointment as his record seemed to suggest he had a bright future, and he is very familiar with the Championship. Unfortunately it proved to be a mistake, so let's move on.
The Board have attempted to appoint a foreign manager now twice and failed. If any of them read Oatcake they were probably frightened away!
There seem to be some who have their knives out for Jones before he starts, mainly because he has no experience at our level. Actually I think Rowett has reduced our level to well below a mid Championship standard. People should remember that we all start out in life with no experience and so did some of the great British football managers such as:
Dave Bowen took over Northampton Town in the 4th tier of English football in 1959 and took them to the top division in 5 seasons.
Alf Ramsay - coached in Southern Rhodesia and then took control at Ipswich in the 3rd Division and took them to be Champions of England.
Brian Clough - coached Sunderland Youth then took over Hartlepool at the bottom of the old 4th division and with absolutely no resources (Clough drove the club coach) took them to 8th place. Appointed as manager of Derby at the bottom of the old second division and took them all the way to being Champions.
Alex Ferguson - appointed player manager at East Stirlingshire in 1974 - sacked; then manager of St Mirren low down in the Scottish 2nd Division in 1975 and made them Champions of Scotland in 1977 with a team of average age 19.
I am not equating Nathan Jones with the above, 3 of whom went on to much greater achievements; I am simply pointing out that many of the great achievers start out in lowly places. There are other great British managers but they generally started managing higher up the ladder.
We desperately need some success again, so let's get behind him and give him some real North Staffordshire support, he needs us, and put aside the defeatist mentality.

Have to admit I know absolutely nothing about Nathen Jones, if what I have learned is right and he brings fast attacking football based around movement and pace then I am actually excited, I don't expect miracles he will after all need to change our whole football philosophy and get the players used to going out to attack and win. hopefully going to the game can become something to look forward to again.

i hope they don't make him where that "19th hole" horrendous, bland, rowett-esque golfing attire like in the official picture. A lot of other pictures he's got a hooded coat on, and looks far more intimidating.

anyone else not at all worried that he's only been a full time manager for approximately 2 years ? ... this is even more of a gamble than Rowett, lets hope it pays off and we've unearthed a gem and not a one hit wonder otherwise we could be in the shit here!
good luck to him!

Gotta be honest & say I had no idea who he was two days ago, but it's fair to say that I am now fully aboard the hype train! I've gone from dreading the upcoming Brentford game to looking forward to it more than I've looked forward to a game in a long time.

He's not what I wanted or expected but I'm happier with him than Rowett for many reasons.
I'll support him in the hope he'll bring some much needed excitement back to the club. We're only 8 points off the play offs so there's no reason why the target shouldn't be to get into the play offs.

Credit to the club for acting quickly, getting rid and listening to the fans. Jones is known for a positive style and that’s what most want to see.
Well done SCFC on this.
