Welcome Nathan. Really excited to see how you're going to get the best out of a talented squad. The last manager couldn't.
If you go for a diamond again please play:
Butland Bauer Shawcross Williams Pieters Woods Allen Clucas Bojan Afobe Berahino

anyone else not at all worried that he's only been a full time manager for approximately 2 years ? ... this is even more of a gamble than Rowett, lets hope it pays off and we've unearthed a gem and not a one hit wonder otherwise we could be in the shit here! good luck to him! West Brom and Derby are in the top six, how long have their manager's been managers?

But I suppose the problem we have right now is we are like a couple in their 50's going to a swingers party and hoping to cop off with Scarlett Johansson! or somebody in their 50's, I'd settle for Nicole Kidman and Kylie

it seems the club have taken a chance on a forward thinking manager who plays attacking football and wants to win every game first rather than getting a point and hoping for the win. I think we have some exciting times ahead of us.

Welcome Nathan, best of luck. It seems that whoever Stoke appoint, in some people's opinion they are damned for their decision. I personally want a manager who's successes are in front of him, not in the twilight of his career with a mixed bag of a past. I welcomed Rowett's appointment as his record seemed to suggest he had a bright future, and he is very familiar with the Championship. Unfortunately it proved to be a mistake, so let's move on. The Board have attempted to appoint a foreign manager now twice and failed. If any of them read Oatcake they were probably frightened away! There seem to be some who have their knives out for Jones before he starts, mainly because he has no experience at our level. Actually I think Rowett has reduced our level to well below a mid Championship standard. People should remember that we all start out in life with no experience and so did some of the great British football managers such as: Dave Bowen took over Northampton Town in the 4th tier of English football in 1959 and took them to the top division in 5 seasons. Alf Ramsay - coached in Southern Rhodesia and then took control at Ipswich in the 3rd Division and took them to be Champions of England. Brian Clough - coached Sunderland Youth then took over Hartlepool at the bottom of the old 4th division and with absolutely no resources (Clough drove the club coach) took them to 8th place. Appointed as manager of Derby at the bottom of the old second division and took them all the way to being Champions. Alex Ferguson - appointed player manager at East Stirlingshire in 1974 - sacked; then manager of St Mirren low down in the Scottish 2nd Division in 1975 and made them Champions of Scotland in 1977 with a team of average age 19.I am not equating Nathan Jones with the above, 3 of whom went on to much greater achievements; I am simply pointing out that many of the great achievers start out in lowly places. There are other great British managers but they generally started managing higher up the ladder. We desperately need some success again, so let's get behind him and give him some real North Staffordshire support, he needs us, and put aside the defeatist mentality. Great post Cokey. If you've got it, then, well ... you've got it!

Is the plan for Jones to take his first game against Brentford, or will Rory handle that and Jones take his first game against Shrewsbury?

The 'god-bothering' concerns me, but if there's a job and a place to make someone lose faith it's probably Stoke! Best of luck Nathan. Given he swears like a trooper on those videos I wouldn't worry too much about his religious beliefs

It's a risk but I'm just relieved it's not another of the boring merry go round managers. Seems like he plays attacking football so let's see if he can bring some of that here and translate it to a higher level.

Had a enough of cheap options so Why do you believe it is a cheap option, do you have access to the club P & L on a monthly basis ? You could argue that the club are going out on a limb with a business valued at around £120 million, that in itself is fairly ballsy (fortunately not Alan Ballsy). Come on man get on board and give the bloke a chance (assuming there are no last minute cock ups and he is actually unveiled) He's just pissed off that this appointment has proved he knows fuck all and it's ruined his "ITK" bullshit that he's tried to convince everyone of....in other words, someone whose own ego is more important to him than the success of the club he pretends to "support". An out and out throbber who will hopefully disappear back into the woodwork now.

I think we can all agree - he is the best manager we have got! Seriously, I'm quite excited about us, for once, appointing a young, forward thinking manager with a good track record who could well have his best years ahead of him. I have to say I don't share his religious faith but I've never had a problem with people who have faith. If it helps them to cope better with life's problems and doesn't harm others, that's fine by me. Let's give him the time and space he needs to build a team we can all be proud of. Promotion this year would be a bonus. His main task is to change the toxic atmosphere, give the players and fans confidence and develop a style of play to suit the players we have and the ones he buys. And of course, to identify and make a start on moving on players who he feels will not be part of our future. I wish him all the very best - for his sake and ours.

A big well done to the board for this. It's an appointment away from the tried and tested managerial merry go round managers who will deliver short term. We want something long term, new and fresh. The fans were screaming for it and I think they have perfectly married their vision and our vision together with this appointment. GOOOOARRRN (Best take my stoke badge out of my car for the foreseeable, can't be parking that in Luton without my car ending up on bricks!)
