Whose this other appointment then? I've heard Peter Crouch is moving upstairs and is acting in advisary capacity. Nathemthi is he can help him get a bird's eye view of the club! What happened to Moyes?

Wonder if he'll bring Bojan, Bauer (& Diouf) back from the dead? I think it's ok not to have either providing your winning and being creative which we weren't under Rowett. I'd imagine both will come back in from the cold

Afobe has never played the loan striker role, I know for a fact he was not enjoying his football under Rowett. Played as a two with support like he had at Bournmouth and Wolves, he will be a different animal. hopefully it will be Bojan in behind Afobe and Ince, Woods sitting deep and Allen alongside Etebo in the midfield. Very interesting I'd much prefer Ince behind two actual strikers, saying that he may set in a completely different way to suit the players we have.

I'd imagine he would be your midfield lynchpin......or would he Either way I'm all of a sudden a bit more optimistic

An ode to our current season The season began and our hopes were high But as it progressed they started to die The Board said promotion was the main aim But we watched as it faded game after game Every week we witnessed the same old story As Stoke repeatedly messed up their chance of glory Game after game we watched them fade And the fans rightly voiced a tirade Rowett just stood there not knowing what to do And it soon became clear he hadn't got a clue The fans sang "Gary Rowett your football is sh*t" But he didn't seem bothered, not even one bit Against Bolton, Brum and Bristol, he showed not the slightest toss But he arrogantly persisted with his mind numbing dross The chanting increased and became extremely loud And it was clear it was coming from all of the whole crowd The fans wanted him gone it was very, very clear The Chairman finally woke up and said "What's that I hear" ? Jon just sat there with his head in his hands And Scholes just tried to hide at the back of the stands The decision was made, and Rowett was to be sacked And Jon had to tell him "Get your bags packed" Rowett left very quietly amidst all the commotion And the fans just wanted somebody who could get them promotion The search was started, but who would it be Allardyce, Moyes, Jokanavic to name just three The media were throwing lots of names in the hat But the Board made ther decision after a lengthy chat A left field appointment, Nathan Jones was his name Who had got Luton Town playing a great game Attacking football (remember that ?) and plenty of goals Which just left the deal down to Tony Scholes "Don't mess this up" Peter Coates said Or the fans really will be after your head "No worries boss, you can leave it to me" As Scholesy tucked into a large pizza for tea The deal was finally done, Nathan Jones was the man Which left only one other to carry the can He'd hidden, he'd ducked, but in the end it was alright As the axe finally fell on Mark Cartwright Amazing work. Made me chuckle that.

I think we can now say "welcome" to Mr Jones.
Or those of us that want to can anyway.
One obvious issue that would seem to be yet nailed is that one report said thst SJ wanted time to build a side of his own with tne inference that he would look to next year to get us up.
The clash there seemed to be the board wanted RESULTS ! NOW ! i.e. promo this season.
Then, the few Luton fans I have seen comment all indicate he will need and should get time - they have probably rightly notice how terrible we've been.
So which is it?
Is he charged with top six this season, or has he got a slightly extended honeymoon?
Anyway, welcome and good luck fella.

Are you a Vale fan in disguise or just a complete and utter miserable git ? Had a enough of cheap options so Why do you believe it is a cheap option, do you have access to the club P & L on a monthly basis ? You could argue that the club are going out on a limb with a business valued at around £120 million, that in itself is fairly ballsy (fortunately not Alan Ballsy). Come on man get on board and give the bloke a chance (assuming there are no last minute cock ups and he is actually unveiled)

He brings energy, but his ball control is woeful, his second touch is always a tackle to get it back. woods would indeed be at the base of the diamond. etebo has been a left winger, and ince seems to be doing well on the right. bojan behind any two of saido/afobe/campbell

I think the new man has a major advantage over Rowett in 2 ways 1. Most people , including the owners , have put promotion in the ‘nice if it happens but probably wont’ basket and 2. Whatever football he produces it is practically impossible for it to be worse than that we have already seen this season. In this respect it should be a good little settling in period. That's true, expectations are vastly downsized from when we were promotion favourites in the balmy days of August. Hopefully he’ll get more than six games before fans start calling for his head.

At least we will not be putting money into one of our Championship rivals - Nice one Cartwright - that obviously helped Derby get Wilson and balance their books

Does that mean we'll sign shit defenders Seeing as how Rowley was with Arsene for the first ten years of his managership, then he seems to have been a success given the players Arsenal had during that time. Some of those defenders have legend status even outside Arsenal. Maybe we need someone of that calibre to understand how we have been shortchanged over the years in the scouting department? As I said above.....it was tongue in cheek

It's not yours to accept mate, the whole board resigning, give me strength! Yeah proven hands, failed hands, merry go round hands, ring a ring of roses, all fall down. Talk about giving people a chance. This is the most ballsy, proactive decision the board has made in years, let's be excited with change for once. Are you kidding !! Are you kidding !! No thanks to this Jones Do you need directions to Vale Park?

Jones will have no time - the pressure is on. The first day of training has the potential to be like the scene in the Damned United where Cloughie turns up at Leeds for his first training session. The players will be asked to chuck their medals in the bin?

Wonder if he'll bring Bojan, Bauer (& Diouf) back from the dead? Hopefully Bauer gets a chance. as long as attitude is right then i dont see any reason they wont get a run out, along with some more of the kids? Campbell looked a good prospect last weekend but lets face it if Bojan isnt picked again after a few games it must mean its over for him, but maybe a young bloke who likes attacking and can speak to him in his native tongue could be what is needed
