Who says you can't be English and a Muslim?
why not build a mosque...its a free country with freedom of religion.
As long as there are muslims, they will want to build places to worship, I don't see why that offends you. Do buddhist temples offend you, or synagogues. It's not a conspiracy, it's a place for people to worship their faith.

One thing that 'us' British don't like to admit that we have pillaged and plundered other countries for their natural resources often making them poor and us rich - the whole business of colonialisation, i agree that people who come to Britain should embrace parts of the culture, however they should have the entitlement to keep part of there culture as well its a fine balance, im up for a bit of diversity in the country or else it would be a boring place to live, who on this bored can honestly say that they have never consumed in any form part of culture in this country thats original heritage does not start here. And to remind you that if you researched your family backgrounds you will probably find that you have decedents from all over the world however British you may think you are.

How depressing it is to open a thread proposing a stance against racism associated with the club and find it full of people offering defence for a party that is a cancer on British society.
I am ashamed when I meet people abroad and all they know of our city is that it's the place that votes the racists in. You can't blame them for thinking of Stoke on Trent as a pit of unwashed trogladytes when you read some of the views posted on here. Time to move into the 21st century, Stoke.

as far as im concerned the bnp are a bunch of racist bigots who whip up racial tensions to try and get votes. nothing more nothing less. some of the things that griffin and former leader tyndall(now 6ft under) have said are fucking disgusting e.g tyndall is known for arguing that anyone with 'phyical, mental or racial disabilities' should be forcibly sterilized!!
they have been known to put out leaflets and hold meetings that incite racial hatred and the statistics show that wherever the bnp gain seats racial attacks go through the roof. in other words the bnp want racism, they may even want immigration! because without it no-one would be voting for them. in the late seventies the national front(including many that now lead the bnp) used the ignorance and fear of the west indian communities, spreading lies to gain council seats and build. however by the mid 80's their vote collapsed(partly because people realized that the west indian communities were not a threat after-all, but also because wherever they gained seats they were completely incompetent) - soon someone thought up the bright idea of splitting away and building an organisation that would appear a little less disgusting to working class people and the bnp was born. in the early nineties they were a tiny sect, no votes, few members, no real support.
then in 1997 labour were elected but it wasn't the labour we all thought it was, it carried through torie policies like mass privatization of utilities and public services, they gave massive tax breaks to the super-rich while arguing that the majority of us didn't need a pay-rise. they allowed local councils to sell off their housing to housing associations and landlords, pricing the poorest out of the housing ladder altogether. they allowed rents to rise at record pace and yet limited pay rises meaning we all got poorer without realising it, they put taxes onto everything that they could get away with, and what did they do with all the extra revenue, they gave even bigger tax cuts to the rich, spent 100's of billions in iraq and bailed out northern rock to the tune of £1000 per taxpayer!!
but of course the government cant let people know theyve allowed all this to happen, that could mean they got voted out! so who did they blame for the lack of housing, lack of jobs, shit wages and increased crime - immigrants, who else! some of david blunketts comments were so vile that nick griffin himself described blunkett as the bnp's best recruiter !! the bnp started to gain votes, they recruited new members and for the last 7 or 8 years have gained seats in councils al over the country.
so what have the bnp done with all this power? FUCK ALL! fact is that just like the NF before them they have no idea what to do once theyve been elected, resident stoke fascist and all round simpleton Steve 'binbag' Batkin didnt even speak for his first year in the council chamber and when he did, he did so to ask how he'd go about putting a motion forward! DONT RING HIM WHILST HE'S IRONING!
in 5 years theyve put forward zero motions, zero ideas, zero proposals! nothing, nada, zilch
but for everyone who says bnp supporters are racist i say bollocks! its just not true, in fact the majority of people who ive met who vote or voted bnp are just angry at the lack of housing, jobs, wages, the rising price of food, petrol, rent etc. all problems caused by the treacherous policies of new(wank) labour and all problems theyve blamed on single mums, the unemployed, the sick, the disabled and of course immigrants.
labour used to stand up for people against the same kind of policies when they were coming from thatcher, now theyre doing the same things they have no-one left to blame.
dont let the government pass the buck, its their fault we havent got enough housing, enough jobs, a shitty minimum wage. its employers fault that wages on sites are falling, theyre hiring immigrants workers WITH THE AIM of driving down wages! thats not the immigrants fault, they need work, theyre offered work, they take work.... same as the rest of us!

The fact that the BNP could be in control in Stoke-on-Trent within the next 5 years is a very scary thought.
The anti-fascists with their ludicrous comments "thick" "braindead" "knuckledraggers" "scum" et all need to re-think their policies because it is clearly having the opposite effect. It is no good and very out dated to use these words, wake up and look at the real issues instead of marginalising these people more.
Stoke is a traditional Labour area but Labour have let the people of Stoke-on-Trent down, they are so far away from reality it is no wonder this has happened. The people of Stoke will not vote for Tory or Liberals and the BNP are making the right noises.
I am presuming this BNP voting is more of a protest vote, and if this is the case WAKE UP before it is too late. Stoke-on-Trent needs very urgent Government investment and proper jobs. This scrapping of the 10p income tax has been nothing more than a further kick in the teeth to the people of Stoke as it is now a traditionally low paid area. It is no wonder people are 'on the sick' what is the point of going to work when your better off on the sick or dole? Some of allegedly more 'intellegent' posters need to choose their words more carefully, people are not 'racist scum' they have had enough so start addressing the real issues on proper employment and decent affordable housing. 8000 people voting for the BNP is a very scary thought, i am sure not all of them are actually racist. My Dad has voted for the BNP for the last 3 years. When i asked him why and does he realise what it stands for he just replied "i am not racist i have many black friends".
It is a protest vote so get off your politicall correct bandwagons and start to address the real issues before it is too late, well maybe its gone too far already because all you have done is paper over the cracks with insults.. I hope those in places on the City Council read this thread because the cause is simple; Poor housing, poor income and poor education will bread this sort of behaviour. The solution is to improve massively on the latter.
Give the people of Stoke the respect they deserve, stop trashing them has racists scum because your making matters far worse.

pattaya potter i agree with every word of that - so cant really not give you some karma can i?
labours shift to the so called 'centre ground' has left a vacuum that the bnp has filled, they talk about the sort of things old labour did - jobs, housing, services etc and have picked up on a lot of support from disillusioned former labour voters. so bnp voters are let down, angry, disenfranchised and marginalized. but in my experience the majority are far from racist. surely the alternative is a new party that actually represents people rather than a party that used to or a racist party that pretends to!

Stokeypokey - agree wholeheartedly with what most of what you say (karma has been given). Not sure that I entirely agree when you say most BNP supporters are not racist, but that is probably a matter of interpretation. A mate of mine works for the City Council, and when BNP were first elected on I asked him how he coped with having to work with their Councillors - he said that, although he found their ideas abhorrent, it wasn't a problem because they did nothing, so there was never any need for him to deal with them. The challenge the BNP now face in Stoke is whether they are capable of being a serious Opposition in the Council - I'd be surprised if they didn't fall short. You're right to highlight the role that New Labour have played by encouraging racism - the vile Blunkett being the worst example - and I don't think the Tories or FibDems would have been any better if they'd been in power.

Premiership Pattaya Potter If it is a protest vote why didnt they vote tory or liberal or any of the other candidates who were available instead of voting for the vermin NF/BNP. I dont believe it was a protest vote at all.. Have you read my thread? It is a traditional Labour area because it is a traditional working class English City. Tory and Liberal mean nothing to people in Stoke-on-Trent because they are as far removed from the society just as much as the current Labour Government. It is a no no and totally unthinkable. So if it isn't a protest vote what is it are you saying they are all thick inbreds and thats the reason they voted for the BNP? Your sort of thinking will not solve the issue more seriously it infuriates people, which is being proven now. The BNP have had the bollocks and been very clever about the way the have approached the people have Labour, Tory or Liberals gone to meet these people in they're pubs and community halls? I doubt it because they are scared of the backlash because they have let their own voters down. People have had enough they want change they do no not see the Tories or Lib Dems has real change. The Political landscape of the UK is changing, and instead being clever like the BNP have all you can do is slag them off has being thick! Well brushing this under the carpet is political suicide, and if things don't change soon a huge backlash will begin. Personaly, i would never vote for the BNP in fact i prefer to abstain, which is against my morals but i feel i have no choice because there is nothing of value for me out there. Then again, i do not blame people for voting BNP because they are speaking the language they want to hear. I know not all 8000 BNP voters are the knuckledragging scumbags you talk about. It is the same as saying all Muslims are suicide bombers. Stokey-Pokey thank you have one back yourself buddy

ive heard some people describe anti-immigrant feeling as 'acceptable racism' but its rare ive met people who are anti-immigration purely on racial grounds. Occasionally ill speak to some bumkin who talks about racial purity, mixed race breeding and other similar mental (and traditionally fascistic) ideas, but on the whole people talk about stretching public services, lack of jobs, driving down wages etc. all legitimate problems we should all be moaning about. the problem is imo a case of misplaced blame.
you watch sky news or read the sun and try and find a story about british companies hosting job fayres in poland, you wont, we arent supposed to know that are bosses are looking to under cut us. then see how long it takes to see a story about immigrants ' taking the piss' - its smoke and mirrors as usual. the same people who encourage immigration to drive down wages (therefore increasing profit) then scapegoat immigrants for the problems they themselves(government/big employers) have created. therefore creating the conditions for the bnp to gain support, and then condemning the bnp to try to stop their own votes from imploding.
hypocritical bollocks
also lets not forget that at the same time as theyve used immigrants to drive down wages theyve cut public services to the bare bone! im just saying that i dont find it that surprising that people are voting bnp, but if people had a proper working class party to vote for, the bnp would soon become a little fascist sect again.

reading some of these posts one fails to see the harm in the word cripple. One heard a commentator just the other day say " Well he suffered a crippling injury."
And on another thing. One is from English origin but still gets called British. Not English British! You can get Pakistani British, How can one be both Paki and British you are either on or the other!

but you see where one is confused. Britain is in Europe. Asia is the other side of the world! You can not possibly be Asian and British. you can be Asian or you can be British. If they want to be British then they should be called British. Is one right in thinking that a form of racism is high lighting someone because of the colour of their skin. If so then calling someone a British Asian is indeed racist because they have brown skin.

in what way does whether someone with asian parents who was born in this country, see themselves as asian, british or asian-british make the slightest bit of difference to your life?
really couldnt give a fuck to be honest, people can call themselves elvish as far as i care, i dont base what i think of someone based on the colour of their skin, the country they, or their parents were born in or the way they describe themsleves. its what people do and what people say that matters, using that logic, my lord, you are clearly a backward twat and should be deported!

That's thing bayern, everyone makes out if we moved to another Country we'd respect their culture etc! But you don't have to look much further than spain to see all the coast lines full of british holiday makes eating all day breakfasts and getting smashed all year round, I don't think the local Spanish people are to impressed.
AND before someone says well we're giving them business, these immigrants that are coming over here are doing the jobs which no "white british" person would do and they're doing it at half the price!

Have you evr lived abroad? Thought not. Living here in Thailand is a lot different to living in a place like Spain. Just a couple of things; we are a minority here and the Laws or lack of them could be seen has disturbing. If for example a pissed up Thai smashes into me regardless of him being drunk and his fault it is my fault. The reason; I am a foreigner, and if i wasn't in the country the accident wouldn't have happened! Hey but you know thats why i respect this country because it is a country that respects and puts its ow people first, regardless. Are they racist? Perhaps, but i do take offence on they're 'Thai's come 1st' policy, no do i fuck i just get on with life here. It's so different being on the other side, i mean living in a country where your second in line. However, i respect fully the culture in place maybe if others did the same the UK wouldn't be in such turmoil.. Respect is such a big word
