Know if there was any truth in the Randell Williams rumours Chopper mate? Yeah they like him. Will be very close today but like Charlton left back too Alfie Doughty would make sense in a wingback system. Transfermarkt has him down as a left midfielder but from the game I saw of him last season, he was playing at LB.

Another left sided player?
I mean if Fox is considered a centre back (madness) then it's needed but where does that leave Tymon/Mclean.
One of them would have to go?

www.skysports.com/transfer-centreBUTLAND TO PALACE LATEST Parties close to the deal to take Jack Butland from Stoke to Crystal Palace have told Sky Sports News they are increasingly confident that the move will happen before the 5pm deadline. The key for Stoke allowing Butland to leave was bringing in a replacement. To that end, negotiations with Southampton are “progressing” over a deal which would see Angus Gunn move to the Bet365 Stadium.

He's got 3 years left at Soton - and he'll surely be on good Prem money.
We must have struck a deal where we're only paying a smallish percentage of it.
And being as their only alternative was being stuck paying him 30k-a-week to sit in the stands, maybe they had no choice in the end.
There doesn't seem any point in us shedding Butland's 30k-a-week only to pay that to Gunn to sit on our bench
It'll be interesting to see if there are any automatic triggers for it to become permanent?
Or whether it's just a case of us having the option to sign him in the summer for a set fee.

The really good news is that the player himself has been desperate to sign for us and has rejected other opportunities in the hope that a move here materialises for him. Having a player desperate to be here can only be a good thing in reality. Let's hope he's good now and goes on to fulfill his potential.

He will have to fight for the shirt and earn it I would hope. Davies is No1 for now and deserves to be so. He's certainly prepared to come here to engage in a genuine fight for the no1 shirt. Keepers know the score. Only one of them can play.

MON is loyal to players who do well so Davies keeps the shirt for now. Unlike having an 18 year old and a demotivated Butland as cover/competition Davies knows if he doesn't keep up to his levels he'll be out. MON has always talked about needing competition for all positions and hasn't been slow to drop players or reward players for good performances.

If that's true it'll be interesting to know if Gunn is aware he's going to be on the bench, potentially for the foreseeable future...? Can't see it myself, surely Gunn will be starting before long.

What makes you think that he’s any good- conceded 44 goals in 23 premier league games. He is 3rd choice at Southampton for a good reason.

And he isn't third choice, he was first choice and was doing well until the confidence-crushing 9-0 and he got dropped to the bench.

Yes he will be, its nothing unusual either. He is no big shot. No player can just expect to walk into this team I'm pretty sure about that. Just like Jack had to wait.

Depends on the circumstance though. A player coming from a Prem bench to a Champo club - on loan - is surely going to expect to be playing, at least at some stage, otherwise what's the point? It's totally different to when Jack joined us. What happens if Davies continues his decent form? Are we saying Gunn will just spend the season with us on the bench? I can't see it. I'm not saying he's entitled to the jersey, I just can't believe he won't be starting games very soon, under the circumstances.
