He's done a good job and he's done exactly what we required. Not even up for debate. If we go down, which looks likely then he hasn't. So it's well up for debate. Well why create a divisive and morale bashing post now?

That’s 100% wrong Dave. They hated Hughton for his negativity and his Norwich side was well organised and feared nobody. They had a 442 diamond with Hoolahan at the top and their fans loved him until he left them for Villa. Trust me, I did the research. The Norwich in league 1 and the championship maybe. The Norwich in the premier league could barely muster a shot away from home and relied on one player to produce something special to nick them a 1-0 win. Norwich fans did like Lambert though I agree. I have some good friends who are Norwich fans and they said we'd got an excellent manager on the day we appointed him. Only six teams scored more goals in the Prem that season Dave.

End The Thread. Here. As. It's. Not. Up. For. Debate Have you seen the list of teams we failed to beat minus Huddersfield? Piss poor. Agree with this point. When you set it out like you have above, we needed to do better. If we survive from here now it will be a miracle.

So, who appointed Lambert and who have refused to give him the necessary tools to do the job? He obviously doesn't rate Ramadan or Jese and who can blame him? So why weren't they replaced with players he did rate in January? He had no idea who to sign he was NOT expecting the job he even says himself he was surprised he was given a chance. He was having a cuppa with his dad and football management and players were not I his thoughts. Not prepared no staff no plan no chance not his fault btw but he should be honest and say he winging it. You are 100% correct but we do have no choice but to back him as none of that is his fault The QSF utter fiasco should be up there with the 'what's all the fuss about' legacy and heads should roll. Until Scholes, Cartwright and the Board have paid their dues then we are stuck with this shitness for the foreseeable future

You think Hughes and the Pizza boys left us in a position to be overly bold? Mark Hughes has turned out to be an utter car crash of a manager. He should be banged up for the utter shambles he's left us with. Who’s asking for us to be overly bold? Is there no happy medium? You seem to think anyone critical of Lambert has a chub on for Hughes, that really isn’t the case. I don't think that at all, I just think people aren't giving enough weight to the utter fucking disaster Hughes became and the shit Lambert has had to deal with. A lazy and complacent set of players, attitudes all over the place and what seems to be a bad dressing room. Add to that the total lack of fitness and I think Lambert has done OK. Nothing better than OK but what Hughes left was fucking disgraceful and it reveals more of itself with every passing day.

Ridiculous post. Lambert is going to get next season whatever happens and he's done nothing to suggest he won't get it. If we stay up he's not going to get sacked. If we go down he's set his stall out as a manager who isn't prepared to let anyone coast and has set out his priority as making us hard to beat - which is where any manager who wants us to get promotion has to start anyway.
Sacking Lambert doesn't make sense on any level. Given where we are we're not the sort of draw that I'd going to attract a manager higher in the pecking order than Lambert and if anything we could end up with a lot worse. He's got experience, he's hungry for the challenge and he's clearly improved us. Whether enough remains to be seen - but when he was appointed it was clear to everyone that relegation was a distinct possibility and he was still given a 2 and a half year contract. Some supporters may have given up on him already but the club won't.

If we stay up, it will be down to Lambert and there is no way he should be sacked, but allowed to develop the team. We are less likely to attract the likes of Arni, Shaq, and Bojan with PL at the helm, but he is more likely to sign sound characters with some grit and determination. If we are relegated, who is going to come to Stoke in the Championship? Looking at his record, could be he is more likely to leave us than we sack him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_LambertThe idea that you can’t find a good manager in the Championship is based on what, Cokey? Simply the facts (1) that we struggled to find one this January, (2) got turned down repeated (reportedly), (3) I haven't seen anyone make a realistic suggestion , yet. Maybe we should have another vote, so we can all have a laugh? (including MH)

If we survive from here now it will be a miracle. It all well and good saying we've lost 1 in 6 but when you see the teams we failed to beat in that run, I don't know how you can look at it as any else bar an opportunity missed. Now people seem to be hanging their hat on us getting half of the number of wins we've had all season in 9 games. And even that may not be enough.

I’m under no illusions about the mess that was left but we’re not going to have a hope of getting out of it while we’re making fuckwitted substitutions that make it seem like Hughes has possessed the electronic subs board or failing to have a sniff of goal against some of the worst sides in the league.

Ask Burnley, ask Celtic where their manager started his managerial career.

As we all know he was a penalty miss and a keeper howler from winning 3. And if my Brother had a fanny he'd be my sister. Totally irrelevant. The notion that we needed to win 2 of the last 6 games and failed was posted as a defence of the need to get rid of Lambert come what may. I don't think pointing out the fine margine of error on that is irrelevant.

He's trying a Pulis/Allardyce type rescue act. I think what he was left with has necessitated that. If he pulls it off, he deserves a medal. I'd still get rid at the end of the season though

As March had said in another thread if you're doing that you need to work on set pieces as they're more than likely your best way of scoring. And we still look absolutely clueless. Our best performance since Hughes left has been under Eddie, where we looked balanced and were a dodgy left back away from actually looking like a decent side. Yes Hughes left a mess but the games we've pissed up the wall are close to unforgivable.
