Can someone provide a single reason to select Saido above Crouch please? Crouch slows our attacking play down, allows them to push up their defence, giving our midfield even less time on the ball. Saido gives a bit of movement up front that we struggle to find against teams that set up to defend. If we play crouch away there, they'll sit their defence on the halfway line, and we'll have to randomly hoof it up to no-one because we have no pace over the top.

Yeah, and Crouchy always ruins it by scoring all those bloody goals too. Saido's refusal to hit the target is exactly what we need.

I see what you're saying, and I get that Crouchy isn't mobile enough to lead the line in our formation - but we need to score goals and he's the man to do it. Leaving him on the bench for someone who can't hit a barn door seems a bit insane to me. Saido is not Sidibe, he doesn't do the work that a non-scoring-striker should be doing for the team. Playing Crouch is a no brainer. We're not creating much else at all, so if he plays then he keeps the ball in the right area of the field and invariably scores too. I don't see any other sides with their top scorer and most influential player unable to get a place in the team. So, we need to work around his weaknesses because he's by far the biggest goal threat we've got.

Can someone provide a single reason to select Saido above Crouch please? Pace!!!!! Under twenty five!!!! He is going to be our main goal scorer for the next five years!!!!!! This is not in any way a criticism of Crouch who is doing a great job in the twenty minute cameos that he is presently doing great in. I want my club to play an offensive game that is quick and slick with the ball on the ground. Jese and Berahino need to be both playing with Shaqiri.

Crouch has more on his own in under half the time. We can't keep gambling on the mis-firers in games we have to win

So, we need to work around his weaknesses because he's by far the biggest goal threat we've got. Saido was good vs Watford and good vs Saints. His hold up play has been good and he's unlucky not to have a goal or two. Again, to me, Crouch's weaknesses are too much for us to start him. He is a talented impact sub, but our side is already far too bereft of pace. Starting Crouch over Saido or Diouf allows them to not worry about balls in behind. They push their defence up, we don't have the space to play it along the floor and have to hoof it to no-one. At the very least Saido will give a bit of movement and allow us to mix up our play, keep the ball on the floor through the midfield and not crowd our own half. We already know that Allen and Fletcher aren't good enough to play through a crowded midfield like that. I'll add to that that in the last few games with Saido on the field (Watford, Saints after the change to 4231) we created chances. I'm just not happy for us to slow our already languid attacking down to a crawl, to accommodate an albeit talented, slow forward just because he's scored a few off the bench.

Can someone provide a single reason to select Saido above Crouch please? All I can say is, as well as crouchy does when he plays, the opposition defence can push another 30 yards towards us camped in our half,

I don't like to say this, but haven't we lost every game that's been shown on MNF- or certainly we have never won.

Lovely new ground, and I will be there, but in fairness, I live 56 miles away, but it is easy to get to.

What's wrong with two up front? Is it against the rules?

It will be another tight game between two of the bottom 14.
You would hope we have too much for them. I can't see Murray being the kind of player to trouble our CBs, but Knockheart (?) looks a handful and pops up all over the place.
Well organised by Hughton. This is a solid 0-0 with either a mistake, a set piece or a moment of brilliance to provide a winning goal for either side.
Guarantedd 4-5 thriller then...

What's wrong with two up front? Is it against the rules? You have to drop a creative player to get another striker in while shackling our best player with defensive duties.

Many going to Brighton? Or is it just me and my mate Me plus one. Some meetings in our London office magically appeared in my diary earlier in the day.

Interesting You've chosen to rest Shaqiri and Choupo and you've summarily dropped Wimmer and promoted Tymon. Other than that, it all makes sense.

Do like the idea of Bruno {or Zouma} in midfield though. I reckon Bruno could be a Whelan type, a bit more steel in midfield. Let the strikers get on with attacking. And was looking at 'imaginative' ways of engaging Saido. Tymon is a bit of wishful thinking, I know. And I'm shit scared of burning Shaq out {with the internationals etc}. Havn't seen much of Brighton yet, but what I've heard/read they're more about the not conceding than tearing teams apart, that drove me thinking.

Ha! Alcohol has a lot to answer for mate. I don't even think Zouma would be effective in midfield, he's not manoeuvrable enough! Far better for him to bolster the midfield by bringing the ball out from defence if we stick to three at the back. We're in limbo until January I reckon and I don't expect a great run of results as we splutter into the New Year. But....will we splash the cash in January if we're still floating around the bottom 6? I bloody well hope so.
