But we couldn’t possibly ask rich people to pay more tax to reduce poverty. Far better would be to reduce benefits and force more people to food banks.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67600789Laura Cuntsberg with another absolutely pointless opinion based article about the tories. Desperate to keep them relevant and keep up the illusion that they have some sort of chance at a General Election. First thing which needs doing after the GE is getting this woman out of the BBC and over to GB News, Daily Mail, Talk TV or another tory rag where she belongs. One of the worst journalists I've witnessed. Can't wait to see the back of this horrible woman.

He singles out Attlee, Thatcher and Blair as leaders who had significant impact on the UK. You wouldn't know that, of course, just going by the headlines!

Praising thatcher I would imagine is in the eyes of his target audience is acceptable And I’m sure you’ll agree with his sentiment on the good lady Attlee I’ve no real opinion though the British voter was quick to get shot of him Now you might be happy to see starmer praising a mass murdering war monger who should be visiting The Hague not trawling the world increasing his personal wealth But I’m not

Thatcher saw the benefits of EU membership and was alert to the threats of climate change. It seems to me that the Tory right are doing more to trash her legacy than just about anyone.

Just as true, if not more so.

surely if salaries are 33% higher then labour cost to business is 33% higher plus employers NI of 13.8% therefore prices will be 37.5 % higher assuning profits aren't increased . but we all know that profit will be maintained by businesses so the result is job losses or higher prices ?
oh , sorry , thats a labour manifesto .

Average salaries may be 33% higher. I suspect the people who have benefited the most from that are at the top of the tree, ie the shareholders and business owners, not the workers. So your logic doesn’t follow.

Everybody's talking about a May/June election. Makes sense. Sunak needs to mobilise the silver tops and better weather helps with that.
In which case, I'm assuming that income tax will be headline grabber in the Spring budget.
What do we reckon? 2p off basic rate? I think they'll really go for broke on the basis that they've nothing to lose and, if they do, the incoming govt has much less revenue to play with to try to put the mess right.

avge salary = 32300 add approx 33 % = say 10700
french germ aussie etc = 43000 per your posting
so , if costs go up = prices go up
what dont you understand ?

Prices go up due to greedy Landlords, Supermarkets etc etc..... UK residents are exponentially worse off. Pretty sure there's only one "thicko" here mate and it'aint me.
