There are ways and means to whistleblow though, right? Calling up to a phone in isn’t really what I meant. Having conversations with police/journalists in a private setting seems more likely to lead to a reasonable outcome. However, as you say, it’s not my ass on the line. I’d like to think I’d step up, but who knows if I would.

Like this civil servant who gave an anonymous interview to a journalist and was subsequently sacked? www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/feb/03/whistleblower-who-revealed-fall-of-kabul-chaos-sues-uk-government-after-sackingI admire your optimism about how whistle-blowers are treated, however I suspect the reality is not quite so good-natured. You can see why many would choose to wait until they are sworn in under oath at subsequent inquiries, to give their evidence free from disciplinary action (legitimate or otherwise). I'm not sure it's the self-serving rewriting of history that you implied.

Surely not- as if Boris Johnson would think that blowing things up his nose would make him feel better. Maybe blowing a foghornsgleghorn up your nose would work?😀

Was there another case in relation to the parties or something and boris went and named the whistle blowers and pretended it was an accident or something. There was something like that.

Was there another case in relation to the parties or something and boris went and named the whistle blowers and pretended it was an accident or something. There was something like that. Maybe. If so, I don't recall it. But you can see why people would wait until they have the opportunity to give evidence under oath. And, perhaps, why observers might think it's for selfserving reasons when it's probably more likely to be because it's safe to do so.
