Surely this can’t be true but I wouldn’t put it past the lying fat pig;
Tory PM Boris Johnson lied when he claimed in 2020 that he came so close to dying from Covid that hospital doctors ‘prepared to announce his death’, an independent prosecutor’s investigation has found – as Skwawkbox and others suggested at the time – and the evidence that proves the case was subject to Freedom of Information Act requests specifically because Johnson went public through the press with his lie, in effect waiving patient confidentiality.

I'd be pretty amazed if anyone believed him at the time, nobody I know did. To be fair I don't know anyone that reads the Daily Mail any more, there was probably a few of them that went along with it.

It is the biggest selling paper in the UK so unfortunately there is a lot more than a few who swallow this sort of garbage.

Fair comment, I imagine their circulation will be dropping year on year tho, with any luck in a few years time they'll be completely irrelevant.

Struggling to understand how anyone thinks Farage should be anywhere near power. A racist a bigot and an extreme free marketeer. Oh and he's a twat. I’m struggling to think of anyone in politics in the U.K. i’d have any trust in or find likeable. The last leader / PM I liked as a person was John Smith though I didn’t mind Major just he was a bit grey. Collum Eastwood leader of the SDLP is a good lad and the pick of the bunch for NI ministers in Westminster for me.

Having read the BBC article this is much dodgier than I first thought. 1. His wife has shares in a nursery agency. 2. The incentives for child minders means that if they sign up through an agency rather than as an individual they get double the money. Why? Why do we want a middle man which will increase costs? Surely the incentive should be the other way round which in turn will help reduce government spending? 3. The government website lists 6 agencies on the website, oh which is the one his wife has shares in. Is it just me or is that not proper dodgy and quite clearly shows he's tried to financially benefit from this? Now had his wives agency not appeared on this government website as one of a very select 6, then I believe sunak may have been able to claim this as some sort of oversight that he forgot about. I don't think that's just as easy now.

I assumed it was bollocks when he first started talking about how seriously ill he'd been, and was pretty sceptical that he'd even tested positive. It seemed like a perfect distraction - both in its timing and also in its nature (it becomes very difficult to criticise someone who is apparently very ill). I was expecting plenty of non-Conservative supporting newspapers/magazines to pretty quickly be digging into it, but they seemed to run with the story and seemed to be pretty convinced that it was true. So that made me think it probably was true. If it turns out he lied it will be far from a shock (given the state of the fucking idiot involved), but I did eventually come round to thinking it was probably broadly true (with probably some things being exaggerated for political gain).

She is absolutely brilliant here and his pathetic, laugh of guilt "in the normal way" was straight out of the Johnson play book.
They make me sick.

Equally brilliant here, I'd call it forensic And this is where she skewers Bozo content.jwplatform.com/previews/uaptsWs4

If you're a Conservative the approach seems to be lie, lie and lie again, relying on your friends in the media to let it go and all those who don't follow politics or the news to just swallow it all.

Just asking for a friend Is it normal for a man convicted of an offence while in office to get promoted then stand again for re-election? Apparently so in Tory Britain 2023. Funny how eating a bacon sarnie or being a bit too serious as a politician are somehow "crimes" against electability. Actually committing an offence in office isn't.

a bit of thought , asking the right question , still no definitive answer . www.express.co.uk/comment/expresscomment/1759128/trans-lobby-debate-culture-wars-Kemi-Badenoch-SNPdecent article . what is a nazi nowadays ? seems everybody is accused of being one , especially the conservatives. i thought they were right wing socialists , which would suggest extreme labour ( ie labour are socialists ) . c/w communists which i thought were left wing socialists which would suggest extreme labour.

It's the kind of lazy argument right wingers make when they first notice the term national socialism and think 'aha! check mate!'.

Its not a difficult question to answer It means what it always meant an abbreviation of National Socialist A National Socialist is a whole lot different to a Socialist despite some people wishing in link them together for cynical reasons

It is a Welsh Labour proposal to extend their Basic Income Pilot scheme to unaccompanied minor asylum seekers under the same conditions The Basic Income Pilot Scheme gives young people who leave the Care System at aged 18 a guaranteed monthly income of £1600 a month for two years Would you support this proposal for young people?

Getting paid 1600 pounds a month for doing nothing? No unless it was monitored very strictly. For me I’d be happy to pay 1600 pounds a month if those receiving the payments filled a hard to fill job role and earnt it by graft. In relation to the payments - How will it make those that work for less feel? Is that fair? - Do they have to pay it back? Is it a loan rather than a gift? - Where does the money come from to pay it?

its for all young migrants , the big problem is if paid it will affect their legal funding to fight deportation .
i support labour objecting to this blatant attack on what migrants can get for nothing . the conservatives are bloody useless and nazis for opposing it ..

I'm surprised your not more supportive of this 3 Year Pilot Scheme as I understand you have involvement with young people in some capacity Of course it is monitored very strictly (it commenced in July 2022) It is being studied in conjunction with Oxford University This Oxford University's outlines the workings and objectives of the scheme www.education.ox.ac.uk/research/the-welsh-basic-income-scheme/By definition these are vulnerable people many who have experienced trauma and many with mental health issues Surely this is a proactive approach to transition these young Adults into Society who unlike others of same age dont have a Family Support Network around them. In any case at 18 they would be eligible for Universal Credit as any other 18 year old so the cost is minimal but surely better than just being cast adrift The £1600 payment is subject to Tax so the net payment is £1280 per month for the 500 places available on the Pilot Scheme
