Forget small boats. The absolute incompetence of this shitty government are the problem. Not sure that it's incompetence but by actual design PP.

thats impressive considering there were 68000 applications in 2014 and 823000 in 2022 I think you've got your figures confused with something else there chap, either that, or somebody is flat out lying to you ... commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn01403/The annual number of asylum applications to the UK peaked in 2002 at 84,132. After that the number fell sharply to reach a twenty-year low point of 17,916 in 2010. It rose steadily throughout the 2010s, then sharply in 2021 and again in 2022 to reach 74,751 applications, the highest annual number since 2002.

If we round that maximum figure of 2022 up to 75,000 for ease of calculation and take the 85% away that are legitimate claims we're left with 11,250. As a percentage increase on the total population of the UK that amounts to less than 0.002%. I mean, you can see why the Daily Mail are whipping their readers into a frenzy!! In 500 years time at this rate they'll have increased the population of the country by as much as 1%!! Totally unacceptable, wait until 'Colin from Portsmouth' finds out 🤦

Wait til you found out how he made most of his money. It's a bit classless to upgrade the power supply to your swimming pool while we have a cost of living crisis and 350 plus local pools have shut don't you think?

It’s weird, on the Lineker thread it’s been said many times that the personal wealth is irrelevant. 🙄

i was only portraying that the graph only reflected part of an equation . That without the number of applications processed the graph was meaningless . If the volume had expanded then that is a potential explanation for the decline in processing . . Other variables could also have an impact eg the sources of the asylum seekers requiring more investigation etc. Does an application from an Albanian need more time to consider than an applicant from Somalia

Your "bro in law" isn't the Prime Minister of the UK telling everyone to tighten their belts. What difference does it make? One is a job. The other is done for his free time. I very much doubt he is telling those of means to brace themselves for challenging days ahead. Again, culture wars.

We are all in different situations and circumstances?
