That is now a 32% pay rise for MPs since 2010. Looking forward to seeing the disgust of the members on here who think someone on 30k wanting a pay increase is greedy. They're going to be absolutely raging when they find out MPs on near 90k are getting another pay increase, brining their total pay increase since 2010 to near 32%. I love that jump in MP's salaries between 2014 and 2015. It's almost as if they are being compensated for taking lower than usual pay rises in the previous years. What a preposterous notion.

So dramatic! Nobody banned education! Education was obliterated off the back of our absurd lockdown strategy. You know it was. That's before we even get into the forced masking up of children in the name of said virus they were mostly immune to. They were generally affected less but they were not immune that is simply incorrect

Yeah I'd be far better placed on the moral high ground if I believed in banning education in the name of a virus children were largely immune to and having a family I can't afford. Literally what planet are you on? Even those on the left (most posters on this thread) must wince everytime they see a wilko post. So dramatic! Nobody banned education! They may as well have done with the home learning bollocks

In my line of work I get to meet/talk to a wide variety of people and politics always gets mentioned, the absolute hatred towards this government is outstanding, I always then have to ask what will they do come the local elections in May and the GE in 2024, surprisingly most don’t say they’ll be voting against the government, it’d be the first thing I’d be doing.
Honestly I can see a number of Tories out canvassing getting a right kicking.

You’ll be pleased to note that MPs have voted themselves a £2.4k pay rise today.

Some disgraceful comments on here tonight re: nursing.
Perhaps the nurses in question after paying to be trained to save lives all day, don’t get paid enough during a crisis where energy bills have gone through the roof, student loans have been sold to a third party and terms changed (so what they were meant to be paying is now 10x higher), serco (Tories favourite money laundering friend) have bought all the properties in major cities or got the rentals on 7 years contracts to house immigrants who can’t ‘be sent back’ because of brexit and the Dublin agreement.
Chuck in outrageous fuel prices (you know a lot of nurses have to drive because the tories increased public transport costs or cut them completely), and because the tories won’t tax their friends and old employers, and you may start to see why they’re short of cash and need food banks.
Basically all down to the straight as an arrow blue half of Westminster.
In 13 years the tories have destroyed everything and those still defending them and attacking key workers need to give their head a wobble.
Just pray your don’t need their help in an emergency.

If you take away the percentages which are very misleading as it makes it seem fairer. So in real money terms. MPs get over 20k more since 2010. Nurses get 3k more since 2010. The unions are going to love this. Absolute cheek of this government to give themselves pay rises but refuse to sit down and talk with nurses about their pay. Away and fuck. It's all MPs isn't it? Be interesting to see what Labour and Mr Starmer have to say about their nice little pay rise in the current climate...

I think it's a joke given how much their pay has increased the last decade. Is labour/Starmers opinion going to influence yours? Or if not... What's the relevance?

They'll obviously refuse it and donate it to the striking public service workers who obviously deserve a pay rise more than the rest of the country?

What's the relevance? I think it's a joke too, they absolutely do not deserve the level of pay increase they have over the years. In terms of Starmer and Labour, they are supposed to be the party to go up against the government and at least be more intune with the public. Given the current clost of living climate we see ourselves in this is an out and out smack in the face. If this party really wants to take power at the next election, accepting this payrise just shows they are no better than the Tories when it comes to thinking about themselves. They probably can't refuse the payrise, but a gesture like that would speak for itself

Why is it always Labour's problem to solve Conservative Governments Policy Choices? Labour are benefiting from this choice are they not? Will labour reverse this if they got into power? Course they won't In any case, that's exactly what they are there to do - overturn the mistakes of the outgoing government
