Spot on. She became PM because just 80,000 people said so. 80,000 rather odd, out of touch people who wouldn't know (or care) what the real world was like if it came up and introduced itself. And bang on with your last sentence, that's exactly what she should be doing. For a reference of how to do it, see John Profumo, who resigned for shagging someone who was connected to the Russians. Ironically, two things that didn't matter in the slightest to another recent, useless Conservative PM: fidelity and Russian connections, which shows how far the Tories have driven down political standards recently. Profumo lived a quiet life devoted to charitable causes for the remainder of his time on the planet. Johnson and Truss would do well to fuck off and do the same. Well you would say that, wouldn't you? Very good. Funnily enough I was at Cliveden earlier this year. So far as I could see, there was no reference to the episode.

I don't mind Sunak, I think the country would be in a far better place now if he'd been PM in 2019 rather than the half arsed BoJo and then the deluded Truss. As it is, the Tories will be booted out in 2025 and are long over due a period in opposition. Apart from a few exceptions like Hunt and Gove (unpopular I know but a competent minister), the party is really scraping the barrel now on its front benches.
Not that Starmer will provide a dramatic change in government particularly - he's very middle ground, like a uncharismatic/dull version of Tony Blair.

Well it is fortunate that they have got ‘30p’ Lee as deputy. 30p Lee is nearly as dumb as Gullis. Can we have an election now please?

More drama than Eastenders. Can't wait for the next episode. It's very concerning that the Torys seem unable to appoint a cabinet from their vast majority of backbenchers that isn't knee deep in controversy. Makes you wonder how bad the rest of them must be.

And some people suggest that all the parties are the same ... 🙄 And our regular Brexit defender on that thread thought that environmental protections would increase following leaving. De-regulation across the board was only ever going to be the way to do things more cheaply, as is now required since we've made the country so much worse off. People scoff at the focus on the economic damage that Brexit is causing. It's just about sovereignty these days. What they perhaps don't get are all the areas that suffer as a direct result of the cost of that sovereignty.

I have no problems with Labour being placed where they are on that chart, seems like a sensible place to be: use the proceeds of a capitalist economic model to benefit society as a whole. I'm not sure I really agree that the Tories are still where that chart puts them, since it was produced under Truss and Kwarteng but it undermines the crap you routinely see on here that they are some kind of weird leftist Conservative government! I know the left always has to be blamed for everything even when out of power for over 40 years (see Truss's latest delusional ramblings) but that kind of claim is just daft nonsense designed to make the proponent feel a bit better.

The Lee Anderson who's friends with this guy who he described as one of the "top lads who make me proud" The Lee Anderson who boycotted England games because they took the knee? Are the Tories on some kind of weird, deliberate, self-destruction campaign at the moment!?

There are times when I think that the Tories are taking the piss.

The Nathan Jones of politics. Well she must have done well at some point in her political career other wise she wouldn’t have taken charge of a country that was once great but finding it increasingly difficult to get back on the top table I think you may have a point here and it would be churlish to dismiss her merely as an opportunist Liz firstly overcame the distinct disadvantage of being born into a Lefty Family who insisted she attended CND Protests and was subjected to a Comprehensive Education When it became time for her to "Go up to Oxford " and join her Mathematics Professor Father she had become a Liberal. And who can ever forget her memorable Anti-Monarchy speech to the Liberal Party Conference as a Student After leaving University her ideologies had matured and she became a Conservative and gave an outstanding speech to the Conservative Party Conference on the merits of Cheese She also can not be accused of lack of determination At the third attempt she succeeded in becoming an MP. "The Party" recognising they had a future superstar in their midst asked Mark Field MP to mentor the budding Liz It was perhaps circumstances which threw the married pair into having an affair. Liz's Marriage survived but alas Mark's didn't But do not be too sorry for Mark as he soon married Victoria Elphicke MP.. Victoria had recently became an MP in succession to her Husband Charlie Elphicke MP whom she had divorced as at the time he was incarcerated at Her Majesty's Pleasure having been convicted of Sexual offences against his staff. One of Charlie's unfortunate employees had been chased around his Westminster Office by an aroused Charlie shouting "I'm a naughty Tory, I'm a naughty Tory" But back to Liz, as a committed Remainer she saw the error of her ways and pivoted to become a rabid Brexiteer much to the delight of the ERG and the Party faithful who voted for her to become PM because she wasn't err Rishi Sunak www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/uk-liz-truss-brexit-eu-b1986692.htmlIt was perhaps a Masterstroke when as PM she appointed Kwasi Kwarteng, another of her ex lovers as Chancellor. The fact that Liz and Kwasi were "getting it on" had come as a surprise to Home Secretary Amber Rudd who herself was having an affair with Kwasi until she returned home to find the pair "in flagrante" Some might say that Liz's sacking of Kwasi while he was out of the Country a vain effort to save her Political Career. I like to think of it as a selfless act to save the Country after the "Mini-Budget" had cost the Exchequer Billions and International Humiliation So what of a Liz comeback? Why not? What could possibly go wrong? is that true about amber rudd?! i had never heard that she was having an affair with kwasi as well. wow!
