Oh is that why they’re striking? My bad Perhaps they want their pay to reflect the risks they are exposed to.

The link you sent has nothing to do with the strikes and they already get paid for the dangers of their job. If I was them I’d be more concerned about a stray dart in the canteen. There’s always one😉

There’s always one😉 Inflation is running at double the pay offer , so they would get paid less in real terms for the dangers of their job. If you're that jealous of them go and become a firefighter and join them in the canteen.

And all this real terms pay stuff, I think they and other strikers should think of the millions of folk not afforded the luxury of a union and get on with it. Bringing the country to its knees and risking peoples lives isn’t the answer. Although I’d appreciate a canteen pool table for sure. I’m well rusty!

The tories cannot be trusted with the economy either: www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/31/britain-only-g7-economy-expected-shrink-2023-imfThe IMF say it is due to labour shortages (exacerbated by brexit), high inflation (exacerbated by brexit) and brexit. Brexit is completely ruining the country. I wish the impact could be felt on leave voters (particularly the leave voters in power who lied to everyone to win the vote) and remain voters could then be spared. The damage leave voters have done to this country is staggering.

Because in tory eyes, the only people who should get their hands on tax funds are wealthy tory supporters, tory MPs, donors to the tory party, tory Lords and friends and family of tory MPs and Lords. It is about extracting money from the poor to the rich. That is the sole focus and aim of the conservative and unionist party.

I think because their economy has been so battered, it is likely to grow a bit from a very low place. A bit like the UK in 2021. We grew quickly then because our economy dipped more than any comparable in 2020. Remember, economic figures are generally in context of the last 12 months and the estimated next 12 months in comparison. Sunak’s target to cut inflation by half is something a lettuce could achieve. You don’t have to do anything to achieve it. Because all you have to do is wait until the 1 year anniversary of the high inflation figures, and comparatively we won’t have seen prices increase again by 10%+ above the already high figure.

It's more likely the government have spent more money dithering about with these strikes than was needed to adequately settle the disputes.

Probably because they don't give a shit. They want to paint those striking as entitled and if you've read the last 2 pages of this forum it works, the daily mail readers lap it up. And as a result they've managed to push through yet another bill which once again affects our rights. I thought that corbyn was meant to be the communist? Yet here we are with tory lockdowns, tory social media spying and shadow banning, tory anti protest bills, tory anti strike bills. Next they'll be rolling up their tanks at the next protest just like China.

common phrases you often hear from clueless brexiteers
"they'll need us more than we need them"
"we waste £20bn a year paying into the EU, what do we get back?"
so ... from the paper that brought you brexit, it's a bit of a biggie:
