One of the better political speaches I've heard in parliament for quite some time. Would have been good to hear more for small businesses LOL. That lasted well.

I can't believe she's turned up after her subsitute has took all the shit she should have done. To be honest, that was quite sensible. Given her appalling inability to answer questions with any semblance of competence or authority, imagine how bad today's session would've been. Yes, it looked pathetic, but it was probably a sizeable improvement on what Truss would've served up.

Interesting Graph that shows The Tory's fell behind Labour at the start of Partygate and have never recovered but fell off a Cliff at "Mini-budget"

Out of interest is Farridge still owning his comment about it being the best budget since 1986 or somesuch nonesense? Not that it's the only thing he's been shown to be spectacularly wrong about of course.

I’ve got mad respect for Jeremy Hunt being able to simultaneously take credit for saving the economy back in 2010 but ignoring the mess made in recent weeks.

I expect it's something serious that needs to be dealt with immediately. Like some dolt passing the port to the right.

They are currently meeting to elect 2 replacements who got elevated to the Government Payroll Once completed they can then meet, probably tomorrow, as a group to decide the rules of a Leadership Confidence Vote 🗡🗡🗡 Et tu brute

Had to laugh at a letter in today's Telegraph "It's clear that Ms Truss won the leadership contest on a false prospectus". Erm, no. She did what she said she was going to do, sacked her chancellor for doing what he was told to do, and caused absolute market chaos and a totally avoidable additional £30bn hole in the country's finances as a result - all of which the letter-writer, presumably a Tory member, is trying to convince himself he was conned about when deciding to vote for her rather than Sunak! No wonder the parliamentary party are talking about only going to the membership in future to decide leaders when in Opposition. What it must be to be a Tory party member when even your own side holds you in utter contempt

why should people on benefits have there benefits increased with the rise of inflation...I work my bollocks of every week and I haven't...and I hate this government btw Because, for example, at the moment if you care for your disabled wife, husband or child for over 35 hours a week (so in all likelihood cannot work full time as well) you currently get only £69.70 a week. If you care for them for only 30 hours a week you get nothing. That’s less than £2 an hour and you cannot easily work full time on the side as you need to sleep too. Imagine how much money that carer saves the state? Does that carer not work their bollocks off? Despite what the Daily Mail says, the majority of benefits claimants work. The majority are English. The majority would love to not claim benefits and have a higher salary. Taxing millionaires 1% of their wealth (excluding their family home of course) each year would raise many millions more than the cost of increasing benefits by inflation.

So, Truss says she'll lead the Tories into the next election. Good news if you're the Opposition!
In reality that can only mean two things: going by recent Tory statements, she'll be gone before Christmas or she'll be the least visible PM in history from now until the GE. Can you imagine her fronting a GE campaign...! She'll be kept as far away from the press and public as possible and only allowed out for heavily scripted press statements. I would not be surprised to see 'deputies' regularly taking PMQs...
