But do you agree with him politically, that food banks wouldn’t exist if people only knew how to budget and cook? Let’s pose a different question (because yours, frankly, is facile). Could folk improve their situation better if they were better at budgeting and cooking? People are too fuckin bone idle and cant be bothered to learn to cook...... People these days...their first reaction is to whinge and play the blame card, instead of looking in the mirror and fuckin doing something about it. You cut your cloth accordingly. We have all done it at some point in our lives. Go back a few generations to when your parents would knock up some meals. Mine would give me bread and butter pudding with raisins and cream off the milk for example. Utilise what they had in the larder, not fuck off down the kebab house or order a pizza. Theres some proper fuckin mard arses on this thread....

Sorry, I didn't realise that and can see by the comments on this from others that everyone rightly sees staffing expenses aren't true expenses. A breakdown of his spending shows his biggest cost was on staffing at £165,215.27, followed by £33,144.30 on office costs and £17,650.60 on accommodation. That all being said these costs look incredibly inflated especially the office costs. Have no idea how many staff he employs for that but £33k for a centre of town office rent, rates, utilities, furniture, IT equipment, phones etc etc etc doesn't seem anything exceptional, accomodation again no idea if thats hotels or a flat rent but I'd assume 100+ nights in London so again neither seems excessive. Personally I still think the expense system is crap, I'd pay MP's more and expect them to cover the costs of accomodation / travel just like any normal person would have to for their job with non london mps obviously getting higher than London mps as they would be regularly working away from home. The system is so fucked the person in charge of the standards committee sold a flat he owned at a huge profit as the mortgage could no longer be claimed and then rented a place, all supposedly within the rules and advised to do this by IPSO now if this sort of thing was done in a normal business where you are expected to minimise costs your feet wouldn't touch the floor on the way out through the door. I'm guessing that the government would administer and acquire the IT equipment and they'd just need the lines in to ensure security protocols are followed (but admittedly a guess). You can pick up dedicated office rooms in city centres for 5 people for 23k (450£ a week) fully managed services when committing to a one year deal. I don't know, still sounds steep to me. This in Mansfield is for 23 people and it's still under 30k. www.realla.co.uk/details/19229113Agreed the system needs reforming where Mps are given a budget based on responsibilities and shouldn't be allowed to employ family. I'd also look at making them stay in one hotel rather than renting houses or again give them a reasonable budget and say if they can get it cheaper they can claim it back otherwise they should stay at the hotel.

It's not a city centre location though mate, needs to somewhere easy for the old and unwell to access. I did think about some sort of hotel but I guess that causes security problems if you know 100+ mps are staying in one location.

If you're riding round on a bus all day because you can't afford to heat your house then you won't be at home to cook your 30p meal anyway.

If 80 year old Elsie knew how to make a dry pasta dish for thruppence a day and did a Jane Fonda workout instead sitting there getting cold she wouldn't need to be on the bus all day......selfish cow!

I would wager that the poorest in society, those using food banks etc, are those who are best at budgeting. Perhaps Lee Anderson should spend a week living off what the very poorest live off, and perhaps then he will realise how terrible it is for so many to have to rely on food banks to feed their families. Also what he said is awful. Basically denies that people need food banks and says that not many are being used. He is deluded and a tory twat. Are the people who run his local food banks deluded tory twats too as they are the ones that offer this so they must feel its worthwhile and useful. You'd think anyone who votes Tory and runs a food bank would have to be a bit deluded not to make the obvious link...

It’s not true in the slightest. It was live on BBC Breakfast tv. And you’ve kind of proven my theory as to why I asked. And this isn’t me having a go but people are so bad at judging what’s on social media. Especially over 50s. No idea how old you are tbh but it’s something that worries me and that I think has got the world into a lot of trouble already. And that’s why it intrigued me.
