I don't think the Spanish government are doing themselves any favours with their Franco-style bullying tactics.
How do we see this panning out? Tanks rolling into Barca?

I mean maybe Barcelona could just go and play in Ligue 1... But Barcelona makes the Spanish league a lot of money. Good question though.

Good question though. they might do though if psg's qatarian owners wanted to form the "new el classico" im sure they could spend the money to turn heads yet still make alot of money Obviously it would be le classique or whatever they say

Valencia falls under Catalonia too I think, so would a Catalan league be that much weaker than a Spanish league dominated by Real and Atletico?

Valencia is another region with Valencian as the local language. I went to see the festival many years ago and all writing on the effigies was in Valencian.

It's certainly not doing them any favours, BigJohn. Got a mate in Madrid who said it'd end up like this. They were all for letting Catalonia have their vote as they thought they'd vote to remain, although they said they wouldn't be bothered if they left as they already get a load of consessions off Madrid anyway... Got to think that after all this it pushes any future vote in favour of leaving. (Assuming they're ever allowed a vote --- I wonder what kind of reaction it's getting in the Basque country?!)

Just assumed he was living somewhere a hour ahead of us I kid you not Felonious when I lived and worked in Shanghai a few years ago a colleague of mine devised a plan to phone his mate up with the results to place a bet being as we were 8 hours ahead, at first we thought he was kidding, but he was deadly serious....

In all honesty I am surprised they let the game go ahead, I'd have thought the potential for turning 90,000 football mad Catalonians away and playing the game would be far worse than postponing it. And both scenarios far worse than letting them in. Not sure when the announcement was made, I think not that long before KO, imagine the scenes outside the ground.

Absolutely outrageous scenes. If there wasn't a majority in favour of independence before, there is now. Imagine if this had happened in Scotland - the entire UK would have been up in arms. I wonder what the rest of Spain thinks about this- for the older generations it must bring back some bad memories.
