Cheap wages till he gets over his injury and release in January.
Whats the problem in that?

He can't be registered in the premier league as the rules require a contract until the end of the season. There's probably some things like where he can still get treatment from the same people (money may not be able to circumvent contracts for example), and not have to worry about searching for a new club while still in recovery when no one would take a chance.
I thought normally things like this were lauded, like when we didn't just turf Andy Wilkinson out after it became clear he had his head injury, or how we've stood by various other players. I mean you may want to be careful being down on the club showing a bit of compassion and care. The same kind of thinking that sees someone like Stephen Ireland given a contract extension, is the same kind of thinking that sees season ticket prices stay low.

So a player gets invalided out of the game through an injury while playing or us and you all think the best thing to do is just boot him out of the club at the first opportunity, regardless of the condition he has been left in. ....Nice people.

Wilko was a loyal, local lad, a one club player who helped us gain promotion after 23 years.
Stephen Ireland is a multi millionaire who joined the band of mercenaries at Man City and has benefitted from his cut of a couple of lucrative transfers. He has been well remunerated by the club for the last 14 months. His loyalty extends to lying to his country whilst claiming to bury fictitious grannies.
The club don't owe Ireland a penny. He will only go and spend it on a tacky pink Ranger Rover, an oversized fish tank or a spending spree at Toys r us.
Meanwhile our transfer kitty extends to a couple of pensioners and untried kids.

Nice one Stoke, but can we put some effort into getting players who get on the pitch, play like wizards, stay on the pitch week after week and WIN.

And we have no idea how much the club are paying him, it could be £5 a week for all we know just so he can keep getting medical assistance
Well done to my club for looking after him I say

Word gets round about the way players are treated by clubs. From the Rory Delap injury through to Sidibe and Wilko and now this, I think it paints the club in a really positive light.

Moaning for the sake of it. If we booted him out they'd be moaning. How about it makes us look a good club and makes us 0.1percent attractive to other players for negligible outlay. Or shows existing players we are a good club? Or shock of shocks we just want to do the right thing.
Do you want us to be like cunty Newcastle who got rid of a cancer suffererer?

Not forgetting that a 6 month contract allows him to be in the squad and for him to be sold for a fee if we desire. All good business for very little return.

I detest what supporters of my club have started to become It's the club looking after him whilst he gets himself fit , no more no less Why should we though? It's part and parcel of the game. If it was a kid just starting then it's honourable or like Delap when you've agreed to sign them. But what loyalty do we owe him? Loyalty in football seems a one way street. Fuck that!
