He isn't anywhere near as bad as he is made out to be. Can be a very clever player on his day Agreed. He had some class performances for Man City and although that form seems to have deserted him I still think he has something to offer, can pick out some beautiful passes

He is not strong enough. His last few games, his shooting was abysmal. He either did not hit it hard enough, or shot miles over or wide. I don't forget these things!

Or opt to pass the book and not shoot at all, like he did last time i saw him play.Obvoius shooting opportunity right in front of goal and elects to pass sideways to an already marked jon walters.I do not forget these things either .waste of space and get rid ASAP

Sadly, he's another who has never been fit enough to show us consistently what he can do in a Stoke shirt. Whenever he has played, I've always felt he was one of our better players on that day.

Don't disagree (again!). I think because what he does is quite understated. He's not flashy but his ball retention is incredible and has a knack for finding space where other midfielders don't necessarily see it. Sadly for us he never quite recaptured that form he had at Man City 10 years or so ago but when he has played he's been solid

Destined to replace Bojan when he leaves?

What a load of old bollocks. Should have fucked him off. I hope for your sake that your employers don't adopt the same approach towards yourself in the event of you sustaining an injury at work. ( assuming of course that you have a job, ....... the tone and attitude of your post above suggests that you might in fact be unemployable).

Wasn't somebody claiming that he wouldn't be allowed in the 25 because he was on a short term contract? I.e. no registration to the end of the season.

I really like watching him play. Excellent passing game. I enjoyed watching him play as well. Rarely took more than 2 touches of the ball and moved it quickly.

I am sure that if Ireland and Affelay, look like they are fit and raring to go, Hughes and the team will know we'll before some of u judgemental people, noticed I didn't say fans.

Notice he was back involved today - and Afellay seems to have been for about a week? Wonder if either will be appearing on the bench any time soon? Maybe an U23 game (for both) would be an idea - think there's a game on Monday

That's what I like about Ireland he knows his next pass before he receives the ball and moves it quickly and rarely wastes a pass. An intelligent footballer. I don't know how this latest injury has affected him but if there are any signs he could get back to something like he was he could have a part to play this season, we're not exactly overloaded in the creative midfield positions.

Ireland still needs to prove himself again, but the return of Afellay would be like a new signing. Great player.

Hope Ireland gets himself fit and ready to play. He's too good a player to be sitting around doing nothing. Would be a great signing for a Championship side.

You call them "fans" ?....... I'd like to call them blind, clueless oafs, but I don't like being rude to fellow Stokies, so I won't. 😉

Tidy player.
Be great to see what he's still got in the locker after his injury.
Suspect he & Affers must be in the thinking somewhere, otherwise we surely would have needed more bods in MF this window.

Ireland is a very good footballer, but unfortunately injuries has hampered his career the last seasons. At his best he was probably among the best midfielders in the league. In my head I especially remember when he came on against Spurs and turned the game around! What a performance that was!
