She is utterly shameless and totally deluded. It’s tragic. Funny but tragic. I think this whole thing has just sent her doo-lally!... The whole thing is a complete farce. What a complete waste of time and energy. I don't know what people expected. Cameron's legacy....he'll certainly get a few paragraphs in the political history books for this one!...Thanks mate. This seems to me to be yet another massive misjudgement from her. It was rumoured an hour ago that there wasn't 48 letters, I'd imagine after this you wont be able to get in to Graham Brady's office!

This was all about a power struggle in the Tory Party and it still is today.....she has worked all her life to get into this position she will only go when she has zero choice.
Then it will be some other opportunist who doesn't give a shit about anything but their own ambition

Those who think May will resign are forgetting that she is so obsessed with her place in history that she had her 'mission statement' from the day she took over as PM plastered all over the walls on the Downing St staircase. She also commissioned a portrait of her signing Article 50 ( which rather downplays the argument that she wants to overturn Brexit- rather she just wants the floppiest Brexit she can get so she can thank herself in her prayers every day that she is so wonderful.

Because they over estimated the British voters ability to reach a sensible decision. Roll on the peoples vote. Are they shipping sensible people in, then? I am working on the principle that people now know what is true and what is false in the arguments (on both sides) for leave or remain and feel people deserve the chance to decide on what is now out in the open. Failing a peoples vote let M.P.`s decide in a open vote with no party whips involved, voting for the countries future not for their parties. That is my opinion.

May called it. Backed by the Conservative majority. The next Conservative Leader and Prime Minister reassures the DUP over Brexit and doesn't call for a GE. You're welcome. Corbyn who? So Fixed Term Parliament acts don't apply to sitting Tory PM's who have never been elected in a General Election because they have a majority. Thanks for clarifying, Rog A May Brexit wont pass Any new PM's view of Brexit will be too toxic to pass General Election The alternative wll actually be civil unrest. Yes the fixed term parliament act is relevant but to achieve the required number of MPs to trigger a election a two thirds majority is required Corbyn neither has the numbers or the balls to call a vote of confidence in the government So you can sleep at night safely in the knowledge that you have at least three more years of a Tory government

As I said earlier, there should have been a cross party Brexit team, to put it through. Putting it back to the people is abdicating their responsibility, in order to look good. You either respect results or you don't.

The proposed EU army and Nato. Ah, so you now accept that there is a "proposed EU army"? We're making progress. On such a busy morning I really couldn't spare the time to give you a full answer about the differences between NATA and the proposed EU army led by the Germans, but I'll try to get back to you later. One big difference is this....one exists, the other does not.

The lack of confidence in this Government goes without saying. It's utter self destruction will produce the election.

Bold and true what ever shit happens if there is a vote of no confidence in the government it would require around 120 Tory MPs to vote with labour Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas and Tory mps won’t vote for a General Election

For me,retired and in a reasonable position it will make little difference in whatever time i have left.It is my grand-kids,i worry for them, i want no barriers to ambition for them.Borders are barriers to friendships and curtail peoples ability to follow their dreams. If Labour had a different leader it might be different but with people like Dianne Abbott and David Lammy, Gareth Smell etc in the party the Tories can fuck things up as much as they like...

You're not going to admit it, I know that, but you know as well as I do, and as well as Frau Merkel does that an EU army is on the way and that its construction has already begun as referenced by both rogerjones and myself yesterday.

There won’t be an election. There will be a no deal brexit or a second vote. Interesting. What brings you to that conclusion? Tricky, I think it is the second time I've agreed with Oggy in two years. Because the EU have got a brilliant " deal' I don't think that they will contemplate anything less/ new negotiations. The Tories won't want an election, so for me as we approach March 29 the I think that the struggle will be between the powers that be trying to create / promote absolute disaster from leaving without a" deal" so much so that there's so much momentum that someone proposes a delay in Article 50 and a referendum as the only way forward ( as you and others have said before, this may have been the plan all along..,. make such a bad deal/ incompetent deal/ chaos that Remain seems preferable or the only option) OR we leave with no deal which will be marketed as a cliff edge/ disaster.
