Boris is now saying there probably won’t be a deal? As both sides have different opinions about key issues? Is Boris still coughing up that £40 billions or is he still whistling?😀

Capitulation or can they apply for a extension

Can't see there being an extension - the Bluffer knows it plays well just to get it over and done with. That's all that really matters to most people (who aren't interested in politics generally). They don't really care about deal or no deal, they just want it to stop.
Basically, "Get it done so I don't have to hear anything about it any more. If it turns out to be a shitshow, I'll deal with all the shit afterwards by going back to complaining about the government generally".

Fantastic to see us pressing ahead with a proper Brexit, the Brexit that the majority of this country voted for, and the Brexit that more & more people have wanted with every passing day. The horribly arrogant & condescending Remoaners tried everything they could to deny democracy but, as usual, they lost & the 'little guy', the 'average Joe', the working classes from Barnsley to Boston, Stoke-on-Trent to Stockton-on-Tees finally had their voices heard.
Wonderful news, we still get to work in the EU; to live; to travel; to study; to buy homes & settle down, but we also get our country back. Our fantastic free, independent, sovereign country. God bless the brave Brexiteers for fighting for the future of this great country.

Isn’t it strange that all these Brexiters want to travel to the EU and buy homes there? Lol! What utter arrogance that all these same people knew exactly the reasons why people voted Leave? Did they stand outside every polling booth and ask them? Meanwhile, one of the champions of Leave has entered the HoL! I wonder how many ordinary Joes from Stoke, Barnsley and Boston Claire will meet in the bar there? Just asking like?😃

Where is this place called the EU ? Wiki regards the EU as a geographical entity? It’s ‘the polity’ of the member states! So the member states have lost their identity tell that to the Greeks, Italians, French, Spanish etc. the EU is not a country all it's member states are in the European Continent.

God bless the brave Brexiteers for fighting for the future of this great country. I'm 100% for Brexit but think it will be a great shame that we cannot find an acceptable compromise. The problem as I see it that the EU calls itself a free trade zone, which it was originally intended to be when it was the EEC ("common market") but has evolved into a protectionist zone. In the case of steel for example which I am familiar with, the EU wanted to impose tariffs and quota on Chinese steel as the Chinese do on our steel, but David Cameron vetoed it because we British do actually believe in free trade. Europeans play lip service to it, saying there is free trade, but then as I found working for a French company only bought French products. The practice is very different to the policy. Would a German state/authority ever buy a Jaguar police car, ditto France, Italy, Spain, etc. In the UK we tend to buy what is cheapest or best value, which is one reason we are actually an efficient economy. As I read it in the media, the current problem is that the EU still want the UK to agree in perpetuity for the EU to take fish from British waters and that future British governments cannot carry out support for British industry and commerce. The EU simply wants to protect its industries. To me these are key sovereignty issues and the reason we are leaving the EU so that like most countries we can govern ourselves. We elect governments to govern, change laws, and enforce the law. We are free to change our government at general elections and get rid of a government we no longer want, by changing our MPs. I'm afraid that at the end of the day, Johnson will back down in order to "get it done". But this is a once in a generation step we are making and we don't want to get caught between two stools. The EU have to concede to our sovereignty over our waters and free to make our own laws, or regrettably they force us to leave without a deal which is very damaging to both parties. Germany sells 1 in 7 cars it produces to the UK, but would never dream of building a plant in the UK. Hopefully, when Germany is faced with a 10% tariff, there is a change in heart, and they are prepared to risk losing part of the EU fishing industry to minimise damaging their car industry. Time will tell.

But, you can’t have free trade with the EU if you’re subsidising products when the EU does not? The fisheries argument fails to take into account a lot of the fish caught is exported to the EU. Also, British fishermen fish in waters outside our claimed waters. I presume you’’re happy to lose that right? Finally, the EU tariffs protect steel and the pottery industry? Your free trade would flood the U.K. with cheap imports costing thousands of jobs? One minute Brexiters moan about there not being enough manufacturing jobs and the next minute you want free trade that will destroy them? People said Corbyn is a 1970s socialist but you’re a 1870s free trader?😀

Hopefully, when Germany is faced with a 10% tariff, there is a change in heart, and they are prepared to risk losing part of the EU fishing industry to minimise damaging their car industry. Time will tell. Lovely re-imagining of what actually happened, but here's how the Daily Mail reported it... www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3518278/UK-blocked-EU-bid-raise-China-steel-tariff-protected-industry-cheap-imports.html Sounds like the DM suggested they did it to attract Chinese trade not because they were some great noble champions of free trade! There's nothing wrong with a country choosing to buy products from its own country, provided the opportunity to buy from across the EU (usually the OJEU process for contracts above a certain value) has been followed. Far from being the evil socialist empire some try to portray the EU as, this is about competition is it not? In much the same way that the bail-outs of Greece were dependent on them opening up their systems to more competition. I've been directly involved in several such contracts all of which ended up being awarded to British firms. Is that also corruption, or just when it happens in Johnny foreigner land? So, why a German police contract awarded to VW or Mercedes, or a French energy contract awarded to EdF is in some way indicative of a corrupt EU, I don't know. Bit of cherry-picking there, I suspect. As I've said previously, I agree about some kind of fudged compromise which both sides will try to sell as great victories for their respective supporters. And then the realities of the damage to the economy on top of the damage of Covid will really start to bite. But at least it'll be our own, self-inflicted damage to own, with no-one else to blame, regardless of whether that blame is targeted correctly or not. So that's a good thing.

Bit confusing that, clip, I put myself through the pain of watching it twice and at no point does he say “government proposals would give Britain an unfair economic advantage in the steel, automobile, aviation, road haulage, farming and energy sectors.”
Or admit Brexit will give UK competitive advantage.
Perhaps it was in the paywall protected piece?
He does however say "The economic Brexit will, in any case, have negative consequences...many negative consequences" and then goes on to say that British negotiators are not arguing for a clean break at all, but want continuity in many areas.
Odd thing to post.
