Apart from the obvious financial aspect, why on earth would he come here? One of the main problems caused by having such a bland season is we are now a wishywashy, neither one thing nor the other, mid-table (fingers crossed) club with no identity? There's nothing about Stoke to get anyone's juices flowing now is there? I just wish Sparky would start managing the way he used to play - robust, classy, edgy piece of work that he was? Let's be honest, he was always up for it when things got tasty, why is he so fucking dull now? Is that why everyone seems so demotivated at he moment? Pretty much playing PL football every week which will keep himself front and centre in Southgate's thoughts for Russia 2018. Abroad or not playing in the PL will pretty much rule him out of next year's world cup. Naaa he'll be stuck on the bench after 6 weeks

Everton don't seem to want him , it's not far from Prestbury and he could have a regular punch up with Phil Bardsley. Other than that I don't see Stoke on Trent as being his destination of choice!

I think because stoke are a subsidiary of Bet 365 Them putting money into the club to buy the player would just be classed as a financial transaction and subsequent advertisements he does for them may enable us to offer a lower up front wage with guaranteed advertising income hence keeping the wage bill down for stoke.
As any losses as a club can be counted against the tax that bet 365 pays to the government(the only betting firm to do so as registered in the uk) the actual real cost to bet 365 is not at all as high as we think.

There is another benefit even if he doesn't come we are sending out a message that we are willing to go after big name players gives potential lesser signings (players that have good prospects) that we want, the impression we are going in the right direction, it also raises our marketing stock across the world that we are looking to sign an England captain who was once world class (all be it a long time ago)

If Everton don't want him (and that certainly doesn't seem clear and it'd be a bit surprising if they did), can't see anyone more attractive emerging in England, that's for sure.
There's obviously ridiculous money available in China, even for washed-up stars, but just can't see that being that attractive to him when it comes down to it with the disruption to his family life it'd involve.
He's already got £100m banked and can't see him being desperate to uproot his family.
Less than an hour's drive to the training ground would be attractive.
Wherever he plays, there's only a smallish chance he'll get back in Southgate's plans as he seems to have wanted to turn the page - but he'll give himself more of an outside chance if he's in the Premier League.
A megabucks deal in MLS would be great for him if he's given up on the idea of the World Cup. Otherwise, we may be his best bet if the interest is genuine and Everton don't want him (and I've always felt Koeman wouldn't be keen at all)

Why is it 'just wrong'? Not many Man Utd fans are eager to keep him. Watching him play is like watching a man slowly sink in quicksand. He's been playing top-level football since he was 16, he hasn't looked after himself particularly well, and he looks a completely spent force as a result. Those years have taken their toll. How many good games has he had in the last couple of years? Last year's cup final he was decent, I'm struggling to think of another. Man Utd fans not wanting to keep him and his value to us are two massively different things are they not? We are fishing in a completely different pond to Manchester United regardless of the fact that we are in the same division and Wayne Rooney would definitely be a massive asset to a side like us. I simply do not agree with your assessment that he is totally fucked, to the point where he wouldn't excel in a mid table to bottom half premier league side, he's too good not to be able to be the best player in a side like ours, can you imagine him not being Watfords best player for example? He definitely would be. I don't think he would be. I genuinely don't think he's up to this level anymore. It's not a case of 'just because he's not good enough for them doesn't mean he's not good enough for us', because a lot of fringe players at top clubs would be ideal. But the way Rooney has played for the last 2-3 seasons isn't just shit by their standards, it's shit by any standards. To me, it looks like his legs have gone. The league is getting faster, pace, energy, pressing are more important than ever before, and he looks knackered and immobile and hasn't played consistently well for years.

That last minute free kick against us was the best goal scored at our ground all season. Not bad for someone who wouldn't make a difference at this level

I agree with your last statement but I just can't agree that Wayne Rooney wouldn't make us a better football team because in my opinion he would. He's not coming here anyway so let's leave it there and agree to disagree mate. It's good to see you back by the way

The inner thigh of Ms Leon would get more traction. Incidentally, heard her being interviewed regarding Roger's demise last week. 70+? Still sounded full of sauce and pluckable. If it's good enough for Wayne, good enough for me.

I think rooney still has a lot to offer the Prem. It will depend on his appetite for the Prem after Manure and he had already said its Everton or nowhere so I think it's shite paper talk. China? Players go simply for the money not the love of football. If his Missus has anything to do with it she would head for LA Galaxy and a life on the beach at Malibu
