Tries to end democracy and gets probation. Standard for the wealthy, I suppose. For all the talk of the US govt trying to uphold their virtues, they’ve been incredibly forgiving of treasonous filth like Nixon, Lee and Davis. No way is that changing with Trump. Never can be allowed to, can it. I'd draw parallels with our own royal family - it doesn't matter how bad they are or what they do, the 'punishment' will never be the same as it would be for a 'common' person as this might threaten the cycle of unthinking deference that the 'peasants' are encouraged to buy into. America doesn't have royals, obviously, but you can substitute the political and monied classes and the point is relevant.

The president can't just pardon Georgia felons so some of the legal people think it's the most likely case to succeed.
The Federal court system is stacked with Trump judges and any Republican president will pardon allied felons so they're not so scared of the federal charges for their treason.

To be fair Fani is playing a blinder and knocking them over like Pins The Cheese Testimony will toast Eastman and the Kraken's fucks Rudi, Trump's two main lieutenants. They either take it up the ass or roll over too It's obvious why just these 2 of the 19 requested early Trials. In some ways disappointing but both are now disbarred. In RICO Trials you're always looking for who will be the first to roll over and therefore get the best deals. It also removes some of the Judges logistical reluctance for all remaining Defendants to be tried together The Democrats will be opening Wine to go with the Cheese and Kraken

The authorities are using the tactics they use to bring down the heads of organised crime syndicates - agree plea deals with underlings to get at those at the top - the FBI used the same tactic with FIFA. Letting some guilty people off makes you feel queasy but as a tactic to get at the ring leaders it works. Trump is in a lot of trouble here.

Whether that be by their donations system there or media influence. Facebook themselves admitted they could influence voting by significant percentages just by how they filter and push their content. Rigged the world over in reality to some degree.

True - but the donation system and using media to influence people's voting intentions isn't illegal - whether the misuse of content filters should be is a separate matter. What Trump and his co-conspirators are being accused of is illegal. And anyway the "everyone is doing it" defence account doesn't stand up in court

Next stop?Surprised this seems to have been overlooked. I actually believe it was an oversight to leave it on the website as claimed. It's perfectly consistent with 2 things; 1 Trump has surrounded himself with incompetent yes men/women who are fucking things up for him left right and centre. 2 Trump is a wanna be bully who folds when anyone with some credibility/weight stands up to him. He wants to be Putin but push comes to shove he's a wimp who caves in when challenged by people he doesn't own.

Half the politicians on Capitol Hill should be in prison in reality. The whole notion that the orange one was the only crook in govt was simply laughable. All deflection. Funny how the Biden/Hunter Biden shyte has gone very quiet now. 2 wars going on since Joey boy got in. The whole hunter thing is rendered irrelevant. What a joke.

There's a very important distinction here. Hunter Biden may very well be dodgy but other than being Joe Biden's son there doesn't appear to be any connection between his behaviour and his father or his position as President. Whereas it is Trump himself that has been accused of wrong doing as an individual and in his capacity as President. The "they all as bad as each other" argument is just a means of clouding the issue.

Yeah it's a bit like comparing a rapist-murderer and a tax dodger. They're both criminals but it's silly to just focus on saying both are bad IMO. Republicans are using the government to investigate Hunter Biden for almost a year, which generally is good. I like to see powerful people under the microscope.

Whether Joe Biden knew what his son did is irrelevant - he still isn't the one who did it. Trump is personally accused of, among other things, an attempt to overturn a Presidential election - the only one coming anywhere near Trump in the crooked stakes is Richard Nixon. I'm sure there have been some dodgy characters on Capitol Hill but that on no way lessens the seriousness of what he's done and to imply that somehow that makes what he's done less bad is complete nonsense.

I think it depends on the extent of it to be honest with you mate. Tax dodging by the 100s of millions like Bernie Ecclestone has a much greater knock on effect for many people with alot more victims than one person being raped/murdered. Those who tax dodge by the million like to try and make us believe they're not as bad as people who committ other crimes but that doesn't slide with me. They know exactly what they're doing and by dodging huge sums of tax it affects the whole population. They should be locked up for many years and made an example of. I'd love to know what the reoffending rate for tax dodging is. Probably fairly high because there's little detterant.

To me, raping and murdering someone is worse than paying a builder in cash for a better rate. In that case it's only the people on the rapist-murderers side who will keep bringing up "but they're both illegal!" EDIT: obviously there's a scale. Tax dodging by the rich, incidentally, is something that trump supports and encourages. Under Biden they increased IRS funding to go after them, which was fantastic.

I'm not referencing people paying cash to get a discount though. I'm referencing business men who tax dodge huge sums throughout their career. People commit murders in burglarys gone wrong. And alot of those who committ said burglary did so out of desperation. Those with millions who dodge tax don't do so because of desperation. They do so because of greed which leads to people like the above committing crimes. And let's not pretend they don't carry out other crimes too, Donald's been accused of many others. But when you've got money you can pay off your victims and pay for the best lawyers too. And you can pay people to do your dirty work and keep your hands clean. Those who tax dodge vast amounts are just as much scum in my opinion.

Ok rather than comparing murder and tax dodging I think we agree there's a big scale and when there's a huge difference in how bad it is, it only helps the much much worse one when people keep saying "but both sides". I edited the post above though re tax dodging. Trump encourages the rich to tax dodge and massively cut their taxes, the Republicans as a whole try to gut the IRS to help tax dodging. Under Biden we got the IRA which better funded them and will help make sure legal taxes get paid.

www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna122114Sodding Democrats. This is what you get. There was a clear chance of getting leverage with McCarthy by keeping him in there and breaking the backbone of the harder right. Now that’s gone and the house moves further from centre. House Democrats suck. Makes me laugh that people think Democrats are part of some “Deep State”. These morons couldn’t even squeeze Republicans at a time of their great dysfunction.

If the American People can't see the poison that is being spread by Trump they get what they deserve For me, Biden ran on a platform of bipartisanship. This was a good chance for Democrats to stand up and get to that. They needed 10-20 or so votes for McCarthy. McCarthy himself sucks and probably would have weaseled out of it but it would have sent a message that adults are in the room. Going so long without a Speaker when wars are raging is stupid. People like Tuberville in the Senate are holding up nominations for key military positions. Deals could have been made, I am sure of it. The sad thing is that now, the house will go further to the right, become more obstructionist and because the elections are so far away, no one will care about the chaos of the last few weeks. As for the people, gerrymandering means that the US people don’t get what they deserve, they get what Republicans want. Overall, I’m just disappointed by this. It seemed so obvious that someone like him would squeak in as moderate Republicans were bound to nervous and just want to get this over the line.

As for the people, gerrymandering means that the US people don’t get what they deserve, they get what Republicans want. McCarthy's naked ambition to become Speaker and agree that just one Congressman could force a Snap Election for Speaker signed his Death Warrant right from the beginning with Gaetz and his acolytes I think your confusing the vote, McCarthy was ousted 216-210 with all 208 Dems voting against. It only required 4 Dems to Vote for McCarthy They could easily have retained McCarthy if they wanted to, they chose not to. Only time will tell if that was a smart move. I totally agree McCarthy was an idiot Dems didn't get to Vote for Scalise or Emmer they didn't make the floor. Irrespective of recent weeks shenanigans the composition of the House is what it is. Those to the right of GOP control the Party even though they are in the Minority. Go figure. Until the GOP purge the malevolent influence of Trump the GOP Party and the Nation is divided. The GOP seem incapable of doing it so it will be up to the People to decide.... with Johnson waiting in the wings to certify the result. What a mess. You are correct to highlight the dysfunction in the House, currently US has no Ambassador to Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait or Oman as well as key Strategic Middle East Military Personnel The US Agency for International Development (USAid), which leads the government effort to help countries recovering from disaster, has been without an Administrator for the Middle East for nearly three years. The State Department’s coordinator for counterterrorism, who spearheads efforts to defeat terrorism overseas, has also been awaiting confirmation for almost two years. If US were a Business Organisation, which I'm much more familiar with, it would be downgraded and placed on a watchlist by Investors
