Heard a bloke behind me when I was walking back to the car saying he could tell already that Berahino would be no good for Stoke. WTF!!! Was he wearing a cap?

Has to start on Saturday for me. But other than playing him on the right I think it's hard to get him in the team with Crouch and still have enough in midfield. But 442 might be worth trying. Doesn't look like he's got more than 20 minutes in him to me. Appearances can be deceptive, of course, but these players who don't play seem to spend too much time in the gym. His physique has totally changed since the last time he played regularly so it will take a little time for him to get match fit and into match shape.

He probably would have started on Saturday had Crouch not scored tonight. I can't see Hughes playing 4-4-2 away from home which means that he would be shunted onto the wing. Or more likely is that he will come off the bench again.

Liked his little hi-five with Crouch when he came on. Shows he's fitting into the team.

Needs 6-12 months before we can judge, as long as he's showing good signs after pre-season ill be chuffed. The more game time we can give him this year the better.
Crouch and Saido is a different option, but we need legs in midfield to make up for it

Afellay is certainly not a winger! He played very narrow tonight and wasn't really an outlet - wasted! I'm not entirely sure what the solution would be. Walters? Shaqiri? are they both definately out?

We all know that he's unfit and I thought Hughes was brave to put him on with 20mins to go and the game in the balance. Saying that, thought he did OK, with some pretty positive work. I'd only bring him on on Saturday if we are could for the 3 points at the time. He needs a little more gym work before he starts for 90 mins and you don't know how the home coming will effect him.

He's a little bit larger than I remember, but that will go in a month or so with games.

4-4-2 with Diouf out wide on the right if Shaqiri isn't fit and what about Bony and Berahino up front?

I expect we'll have to wait until next season to see if he's good for Stoke. The last Stoke player to score 20 or more league goals in a season was Peter Thorne who got 24 in season 1999/2000. That is a long time ago.

I don't know if i'd take him to West Brom. Yes he needs to get competitive game time under his belt but is it worth the risk by taking him back to that cesspit? No doubt Pulis will have his finest to 'mark' him. He'll get nothing but pelters down there from their lot. Just all depends on the strength of his character I suppose.

He's definitely carrying some extra timber.
So it wasn't Pulis bullying him after all?

Stay level. A couple of bad games and he'll be shit again. He isn't sharp enough yet. Needs games and fast. He's already burdened with the weight of expectation on his shoulders but when he is fully match fit. We'll know a lot more about Pulis' judgement.
