I thought we played pretty well v Spurs actually but that defeat goes down firmly at the feet of given. Take your pick for Liverpool. Johnson, shawcross, imbula, crouch. Could have been anyone. I think it's a certainty that if Bojan had played against Spurs you would have included that game in the list of Bojan's shit games I wouldn't have done had he played and played well. Only 12 months ago I was saying he should be playing every minute of every game as we just had to give him all the time in the world to recover his form and confidence.

I don't think he was shite vs city, i thought he looked bright and we could've got back into it in the second half. He was excellent vs Leicester, and relatively bright vs chelsea and west ham when he came on (was involved in a goal in both) The people rewriting history are those ignoring his good performances to justify the fact that Hughes is scared to play flair players, because the midfield is so weak without both Geoff and Glenn playing. He was great against Leicester - I know because I was there (how could I forget? Ugh!). However, no-one is rewriting history. If the coaches don't believe he's the best available, they'll pick someone else - that's how it works. Whether the coaches know what they are doing is a separate question.
It's not how it works at all.
We no longer play with a number 10 because of the bed Hughes has made and has forced himself to lie in.
We could have David Silva on our books and he wouldn't get into the side either.
Sure let Bojan go but sheesh give the man some respect on his way out.

Do we know how much of that is guaranteed and how much is based on performance? In any case, it's a type of illusionary contract because they don't have to pay up if he asks for a transfer. So if he's miserable sitting in the bench, or even worse, he's dropped from the squad, his agent will work something out (same as Teixiera, there's more money involved but the principle is the same). I know it's a lot of money but once you get used to a certain standard of living, life becomes pretty miserable when you are don't feel appreciated by your boss and your work mates. Kudos on the Oatcake only go so far.
As I said football clubs don't give out those contracts if there is any doubt whatsoever in their minds that the player hasn't fully recovered from his injury.
To try and spin it any other way, is just daft.
I'm not trying to spin anything. I'm just trying to see things from all sides. If the player's not happy and the management is not as happy as they were when they did the deal they'll work something out. Six months is a long time in football. We signed Imbula six months after he signed a contract with Porto (i seem to recall) and look how that turned out. A mountain of cash went from the UK to Portugal and we didn't get much in return.

I wouldn't say plenty excellent, a few yes, and equally the same if not more bad performances, he just isn't the same player!
Just off the top of my head, Man Citeh, Arsenal, ManU, Southampton, Everton, I'm sure there's several more if I really thought about it.
Since the start of 2016 the ENTIRE side hasn't been playing well and Hughes has been forced into not playing with a proper number 10 (nothing to do with Bojan per se) because his midfield has become so unbalanced by his purchases (or indeed lack of appropriate purchases).
Johnson, Shawcross, Pieters, Adam, Whelan, Walters, Crouch, Shaqiri, Arnie, Imbula have all had plenty of stinkers too.
It's probably best for all parties if Bojan does move on but the demonisation of him on here by some people really is staggering.
Oh I agree with the most of that, there are some players that have stinkers week in week out IE Pieters who does my nut in, but the way I look at it Afellay came in and in his first game was majestic, like he has never been away, fighting for every ball, winning tackles, not misplacing passes, Bojan has only shown glimpses of his former self, and for the record I actually think we should keep him or at least try but I really think he has been poor since his return and cant remember him standing out in those games you mention or many others to be honest, maybe part of the problem is as you say we have far too many passengers and we should look at disposing of those before Bojan?

Demonisation? I don't think you could find a single stoke fan who wouldn't be willing him to recapture his best form in a stoke shirt. It is all too easy to blame someone or something else. He needs to look a little closer to home, sort his head out, knuckle down and actually prove he's worth a place in the team
So what about all the other first team players (and there's lots of them) who have been putting in some pretty crap performance over the last twelve months?

You can add Swansea to the list too, ran Williams ragged that day!

He's had plenty of excellent performances since he came back from injury.
Indeed Hughes gave him a FIVE AND HALF YEAR contract six months after he returned from injury.
I wouldn't say plenty excellent, a few yes, and equally the same if not more bad performances, he just isn't the same player! Is Shawcross after his back injury? Bojan is the most gifted player we've got talent wise and our fans have this "meh" attitude towards Hughes being ok with him being shipped out, how fickle are we? Not only do we lose our only No.10, we lose our ability to play a traditional No.10 at all because Hughes is outsourcing defensive midfield duties to one of our attacking front 4, which is fine if we're switching to a high press system, but we're 10000000000% not fit enough to do that so we need about 7 new players in this window if that's the case.. Players like Bojan are game changers and he doesn't deserve half the shit he gets, Hughes deserves far more shit for failing to bring in a box to box on 3 different occasions V. Ginkel, didn't work for whatever reason (probably £2m loan cost) Imbula, looks like a player, shows no trace of being a box to box (£18m cost) Joe Allen, amazing player, definitely not a box to box (£12m cost) £32MILLION and we still look unbalanced when we play a proper No.10? If i jizzed £300 up the wall on a new fax machine when we needed a new printer i'd be lynched

Did the scout meeting go something like Scout: Well mark he's a good Welsh lad Hughes: Say no more, we'll have him Scout: But do you want to know the details?..strengths.. weaknesses..positi... Hughes: Hello Jurgen, we'll take 1 welshman please

Not as a regular at his club he was not, Joe Allen is without doubt a good signing just not the player we needed for the position we were struggling with, Imbula looks like a real head's gone signing, not sure he was worth £18,000 let alone £18 million.

If i jizzed £300 up the wall on a new fax machine when we needed a new printer i'd be lynched Can we pin this post to the top of the thread? Absolutely bob on. Bojan is one of the only few players in our current squad who can actually help us get results which otherwise may not be attainable. I'm not being hyperbolic by saying that. Many of the results last season which were unusual or first-in-a-long-while were due to Bojan's ability to either create something out of nothing or link the play well with Shaq, Arnie and/or the striker. Of course, the main caveat in this is that the midfield and defence were either doing their job to the best of their abilities or simply limiting the chances of the other side. Traditionally tricky fixtures such as: - Swansea away (W) - Soton away (W) - Man Utd home (W) - Man City home (W) - Everton away (W) - Chelsea away (D) wouldn't have been (as) possible if we hadn't have had Boj (or an equally creative no. 10) in the side in those fixtures. Having an industrious midfield helped, but wasn't always the case - especially against the top sides. Lose Bojer for industry (albeit with more combativeness) e.g. Joe and we potentially lose that game-changing ability. Of course, I may be overrating his ability. But Hughes, in my eyes, has been unfair on him by not giving him much of a chance in 16/17 - even though I will admit that his form did drop at the tail-end of last season and the start of this.

Bojan is not happy because he's not playing every week. He is no different than anyone else who goes to work every day, works on mind-numbingly boring projects while everyone else works on all the exciting stuff. It's worse when you think you're working as hard as the next person and they get all the credit. It's ten times worse when your boss tells you there's a great project coming up and then he gives it to your mate in the next cubicle when you think you could have done a better job. It's as much about self-esteem as it is about money. Everyone needs to come home at night and tell the family what a great day they had.

Yes all managers get transfers wrong from time to time but let's hold our hands up for what it is, rather than trying to scapegoat Bojan for it.

You simply don't Ball at their feet in the final third i would pick Bojan every single time, but because of the way we deploy Allen, we judge Bojan by what Allen brings to the table

All managers make mistakes which is understandable and to some extent acceptable, however for a club with our resources spending £32 million on rectifying one team problem can not be acceptable when it has not solved the issue, when you take in account the money that has not been spent on other positions in particular the defence it borders on incompetence.

Does anyone genuinely know where he is going? Would we now expect Muni to go during this window?

I agree Mr Slinger. We just needed a big burly (but mobile) bastard in the middle to help break up play and contribute to the defensive midfield responsibilities. We sign Imbula in the hope of filling that role, but instead he just adds to the queue elsewhere. Hughes then signs Joe (still a good signing but wasn't needed, per se) and shoehorns others out. We leave the fullback and centre-back (in terms of the latter, cover especially) and hope they sort it out amongst themselves, while the queue of real/pseudo no. 10s and attacking midfielders grows ever larger
