Yes, and: we are only 1 point behind them, and only 2 teams have a better record than Stoke over the last 6 matches (Chelsea and Liverpool, Arsenal 4th best); over last 8, Arsenal are 3rd, we are 4th. Need to change that next week!  Walters silenced his detractors today. Well done Stoke.  |

The real star of today's game was Mark Hughes, for his daring team selection. "Joe Allen? Player of the season so far? FIFA team of the year nominee? Naah, don't need him today!". And it worked!

Well I find this just absolutely staggering. I was under the impression that the season was only half-a-dozen matches long & we were already doomed! You need to stop listening to gravity crocodiles and start listening to elevating elephants.  Probably falling just short of qualifying for the Europa League again, HERE WE COME! |

We've rocked in eight of the last nine games as much as we sucked in the first five. Hughes deserves credit - he changes things around and is remains agile in selection.
But I think he did take Marc Wilson's comments personally and started a little more defensive work in training.....

We're in a good place right now. Some tough games coming up over the next month but more than anything we've given ourselves some breathing space. It's be nice if we could be on around 25 points after 19 games and we'll be around where we should be. Massive credit to Hughes and the board for not panicing when things weren't going well at the start of the season (unlike me).

Nothing weird about us being 9th.
West Brom in 6th is a different matter altogether.
The Smethwick PHWs will be in hiding at the minute.
Here's hoping they do a Hull (of a few years back) and go into freefall after Christmas!

They've called for his head on and off over the last year, and they will call for it again and eventually get it, but my goodness the man knows how to keep a team in the top division. We've well and truly moved on but he's a large part of the reason we are where are now |

We've only really had two poor results; the home draw to the samba boys from smethwick and the loss to eddie howe's sexy footballers from the south coast..
The extra goals we shipped in the early games distorted perceptions of how well we were doing.
No room for complacency, but if we can avoid more outrageous injuries we could have a half decent season.
