This issue isn’t about being politically correct or censoring anyone. It’s about acknowledging the fact of changing gender identities and respecting people’s right to not define themselves as male or female. - Yes it IS about being politically correct and censoring people... that is exactly what it isUsing the wrong pronoun deliberately is an offence under the university’s behaviour code. The key word is 'deliberately'! If someone makes a genuine mistake then I am sure they will not mind being informed. Apologies will be given and normal life can resume. This is just giving carte blanche to anyone who feels 'offended' at the drop of a hat thereby diminishing the effect of real offence |

People should be free to not accept this idea, if they don't want to. This is the option that trendy liberalists never seem to give. And the idea that these liberalists have some kind of moral or intellectual high ground because they want to argue for this acceptance is also a deeply flawed assumption. These are the same kind of folk that would slate Mick Jagger for fathering a child at his age because he might not be around yet think it's 'progressive' for a woman, who has no man in her life at all for whatever reason, to artificially conceive with no known father. |

I don't mind transgender issues being everywhere, it was pretty similar to the "Gay" issues of inequality that were prevalent previously. I totally agree that things need to be done to ensure equality and fair treatment for all, regardless of their race, sex, age etc etc. There is still work to do yet we must also acknowledge the great work already done and use that to spur on further advances of inclusion. What we mustn't do is what is happening now, this barracking of individuals for no other reason then their "privilege" is just ridiculous. By all means call people out for their actions but not for something they have no control over. I love reasoned debate (I enjoy the YouTube videos for speakers corner) but when it becomes ill-conceived, illogical banshee screaming, they soon lode credibility for their argument. |

I've got some real concerns about the direction universities are headed in. There are professors claiming there's no biological difference between men and women and there's an actual journal paper published by the American Physical Society which is complaining about the lack of gender theory in physics. I mean WTF? How are supposedly well educated coming up with this nonsense.
