He says he would rather go to Swansea, for fuck sake stoke We could re locate for him. Anything for a signing. The money earmarked for the new corner could be diverted and used to purchase a set of casters.

You obviously are. Why would signing Allen have any reflection on what's happening with arnie? We'll be in the same situation if we don't sign Allen. I understand the two are unrelated. However, I am more concerned about Arnie leaving without a replacement than I am excited about Allen signing, that's all. It's a classic management trick to distract everyone from the real issues. You stated 2 hours ago that you thought that arnie would now be staying. Now all of a sudden a bit of good news comes out and you're giving the doom mongering act. I don't think it's the management team that's using diversion tactics here is it?

MailSwansea had looked to hold all the cards but they never upped their opening offer of £8million and were prepared to wait until January, when Allen was into the final six months of his terms, before making another cut price bid.Sevilla have also been monitoring Allen's situation but they have not made any contact with Liverpool's officials and that has enabled Stoke to take the lead in the race for his signature. Talks have taken place between the clubs and Allen now has a major decision to make.
Looks like Swansea thought they would get him cheap in Jan. If he wants to go back, maybe he'll wait it out?

He's got two things going against him for you though hasnt he misty? 1) hes not injury prone enough and 2) he's a player stoke are interested in so by default he's shit.

no i can find the tweet i read it if you would like No that's fine mate, he's actually tweeted he'd rather join Swansea than us? That's a bit disappointing. He didn't say that. He said he'd read a tweet. It could have been from Brian of Accrington who was re-twatting something he'd read in the Sun 2 years ago 'attributed' to Allen. So I'd rather have the evidence please before I'm convinced.

I don't get the 'surplus to requirements' bit for starters. How so? Second, he's not a direct replacement for Arnie? Sobhi will be one of the wingers, if Arnie goes, yeah we'll need another one. I haven't picked up any good vibes on Sobhi's work permit. And don't you think Shaqiri is waster on the wing? Either way it clearly shows a winger is a priority. I do think Shaqiri is wasted on the wing but all indications are that Hughes is going to play him there regardless. This ticks the defensive midfielder box. Allen, Berahino, Sobhi and a centre back (going for best case scenario on Arnie and Ryan) and our window will look pretty tidy.

why the fuck are we signing someone that doesn't want to play for us, who will he replace? He's replacing arnie. But he doesn't want to play for us either. Are you OK travelling to south Wales every match? Now I am confused. Are you saying Allen would replace Arnie? I thought that's what you said I was confused about.

To be fair, it was Paul Joyce of the Express who suggested he'd prefer Swansea, who seems to be the most ITK Merseyside reporter.
And Allen was at Swansea from the age of 9, so it seems pretty obvious anyway.
Just depends how attached he is to the idea of going home. Swansea seemed to think they could snaffle him up cheap in January. And it's still in his hands to make that happen if he sits tight.

I fear he'l go 'home'-but really hope he signs for us. He'l give us control and possession in midfield. Liverpool are mad to let him go. Hasn't he been linked recently with Man U on the assumption he'd shore up their midfield?
