Well Wijnaldum wants the move to Liverpool. Allen prefers Swansea. Not much we can do about that. It's not just him though, either we're incompetent or we're just unlucky, bids for Berahino and Allen have been placed, both are waiting for circumstances out of our control to decide if they come here, it seems like other teams get deals done quickly and we're not able to I don't think other team get things done any quicker, it's just that we know more about the Stoke targets as soon as there's a rumor. Just look at the Pogba saga

If we were any good at transfers we'd have found out where Allen was holidaying and Scholes would be there, emerging from the sea Ursula Andress-like, contract in hand, or donning a cunning disguise and interrupting a romantic evening meal with a cheery "rose for the lady please sign here?"

We've bid what they want for Berahino, we're now just letting them dictate how it all plays out, every day he spends in Holland is a day he could be settling in here
We've had a bid accepted for Joe Allen and now we're waiting to see if Swansea want him and we'll happily be sloppy seconds if they don't
I know that's how it is sometimes, i just wish we'd toughen up a bit

Football doesn't work that way.

Who do you want someone who was a top player in the euro's and deserves his break or a player who get relegated with Newcastle at twice the price. This site exhausts me at times.

Out of the box.

Out of the box. It's a pretty unique situation, it's not like a vale supporting footballer would choose to go their over us if we were in for said player, Swansea are of equal standing though, if we end up offering similar amounts to both player and club he will surely go there It's speculation for the most part though, i just hope we've got plenty or irons in the fire

It's very unique, don't think we should just give up because Swansea might come in for him. But it's easy to slag the transfer team off on this place.

Looking at the pics of Hughes talking and shaking hands with Allen at the end of a Euro game. I cannot believe he didn't ask him about how he would feel about joining Stoke. Allen must have said something positive or we would never have gone public with the bid. We just haven't got a clue what's going on behind the scenes

Maybe Francesco Guidolin (I honestly had to google 'swansea city manager' as i didn't know) doesn't want Joe Allen anyway? So maybe it's a moot point, like a cows opinion, it's moo.
Or is Guidolin one of those new fangled managers who let's other folk at the club buy players while he practises his press conferences and his tango fallaway reverse slip pivot?

I get the impression that Huw Jenkins is the main driver behind this. Guidolin may or may not have much of a say.

All I've heard today regarding Swansea and new players is their one main target for the summer is a top class striker to replace Gomis. Maybe they don't wanna spend this kind of money on Allen + potentially more on a striker.

I think Swansea offered them £8m so don't think they will stump up. Just seen a little post on twitter suggesting Brenden Rogers maybe sniffing about.

Celtic haven't got a transfer budget of half of that money, let alone to spend on one player.

Plenty of time for Swansea to join in then Liverpool bid for Wijnaldum and he's had a medical the same day It's like we've got a football manager filter on, "must be a long drawn out transfer saga, can not be completed before 50 pages on the oatcake are filled" How do you know when the bid went in mate? When did the negotiations between the two clubs start? At a quick glance, the Daily Mail (*spit*) had Liverpool and Tottenham linked with him well over two weeks ago, and Everton linked for well over 6 weeks... Just because we don't hear about these transfers until they hit the headlines in mainstream media doesn't mean that every other club doesn't have its own 'sagas' just like we seem to have every transfer window. For example the Leicester forum has threads on Michael Keane (started 18th June) and Wissam Ben Yedder (started 27th May), and their very own Joe Allen thread from a link made nearly a month ago (24th June). Every signing and negotiation will be different; for example the Bojan and Diouf transfers seemed to take forever for one reason or another, whilst Glen Johnson and Bardsley seemed to join within hours of a rumour gaining traction. There will be discussions with players and clubs that we're never aware of at the time (like the Ki bid for example) and others that stretch back over many months, a la Berahino; it is just scrutinzed to the nth degree on here because we are all Stokies just desperate for any news like the suckers we are and we never seem to learn to be patient despite it being like this every single transfer window

As for Joe Allen, bit overpriced at that money and I'm not sure how combative he really is, but on balance, good signing for me if it goes through.
