I bet Joe Allen would work well with adam ad whelan in a midfield 3 but that leaves our 18 m superstar on the bench . At least we'd have a midfield of steel

4-5-1/4-3-3
gk defence ---------Allen---------Whelan-------- ----------------Adam------------------ Shaqiri---------------------Arnautovic --------------Berahino------------------
Keeping Adam could give us different options
gk
defence
---------Allen---------Whelan--------
----------------Adam------------------
Berahino---------------------Arnautovic
--------------Diouf/VP------------------
then you've got Imbula & bojan for a number 10 role for a different tactic.
In a 4-3-3 you could have imbula & adam competing for the same position with Allen & Whelan sitting. Imo selling Adam would be a mistake because he's a different player in a midfield 3 with a license to pull strings, spreading balls about etc. A top quality player.

He looks like a billy bullshitter unfortunately. Yeah. Does seem to be a bullshit account The DM at the end of his Twitter handle is a fake Daily Mirror con. But he did tweet on 7th December that Garry Monk had been sacked and that was announced on the 9th. Hmmm.

Would be a great addition to the squad just what we need. Under Klopp his form for both Liverpool and Wales has been spectacular, he even made the 'team of the tournament' at the Euros. Which all makes it a bit baffling why Liverpool are getting rid. As for the Swansea connection, players tend to head back to their roots later in their careers. At 26 that's not the case with Allen and tbh Swansea is a bit of a footballing backwater compared to the North West. Also I guess the missus would have a say, anyone know where she is from? "Allen is married to Lacey, and they have a son. Inspired by her involvement in animal welfare, he adopts hens to save them when they can no longer lay eggs" Wikipedia I don't know where his wife comes from, but perhaps we should find some hens for him to adopt! The farm next to me has 3,000 free range hens. Every 11 months, because their laying rate drops well below an economic level, they are shipped out to be made into Wrights Pies (other brands are available) but a few are reprieved and go to local farms to live out their lives, each hen producing an egg every few days. So, if needs be, I'm sure I can persuade Robert the farmer to offer Joe Allen as many hens as needed to clinch the deal.

Imbula is not a number 10 and I doubt/would be very disappointed if we signed Berahino to play him on the wing. Allen could play in the midfield 2 with either Whelan or Imbula, giving us more depth and ability to change the midfield depending on how it suits the game in question

Am I the only one thinking Allen could do the defensive role + add a lot of creativity to the role as well? More pace than Glen to cover more space and he really seems to have a good engine too. Really hope he will sign! Would much rather have Allen than Henderson to be honest! No your not the only one. March4 is thinking the same.

Unless Imbula suddenly finds the defensive side of Vieira I'm not sure he's suitable as a midfield 2 wether it's with Whelan or Allen, people walk past him defensively, I think he'd flourish in a midfield 3 though in a 4-3-3 with Allen & Whelan behind, as would Adam. If anything I'd say keep Adam & add a another Whelan/ Allen type to gives us depth at dm for a 4-3-3.
Bojan can still get plenty of games as an in game tactic change and a 4-2-3-1 in different games against different types of opposistion.
I think Hughes and scfc would benefit greatly from not being too reliant on one setup but be as effective in two

I'd be quite happy for this to happen, I've slated him before but i've got that desperate now for us to sign anyone. Allen isn't a rock hard player, what he gives you is grit and courage like a jack russell, small but a vicious little bastard, not afraid to get stuck in. We've seen what he can do, see the Euros, not to mention he's been named in the best squad of the tournament, I think he'll fit right alongside whelan well for the time been, then we'll see if him and Imbula fit which I don't think they will personally. I'd love see Afellay and Allen alongside each other. The ball is well and truly rolling now, Saint peter has got his cock out and he's waving it everywhere. Potential signings, Allen Van Persie(loan) Keane Berahino Wow what a fucking summer that is, if we can recruit all of these players we've got to be looking at top 7? Surely. My ideal team Butland
Johnson Keane Shawcross Pieters
Allen Imbula Whelan
Shaq Berahino Arnie
4-3-3? What a selection headache leslie has got! Fucking great isn't it, Go on Stoke

I watch a lot of Liverpool games, he is not a defensive midfielder in any way. He's more of a replacement for Adam in my eyes. He's not very popular with Liverpool fans either.

Yeah, I'd forgotten that. Overall he just gives me the impression of a player who is technical excellent and very intelligent but has a tendency to drift in and out of games. I was hoping that we were looking for a Nzonzi type, maybe someone with more bite and aggression. I don't think he'd be the worst signing but he's not quite what I think we need. I don't understand the idea he hasn't got bite and aggression. He's shown plenty of both in the last six months. He isn't the Brendan Rodgers golden boy sterile short passing machine anymore. I'm ready to be proved wrong.

Has made it clear recently he prefers a return to Swansea. We are just a club to fall back on. No thanks!!. I'm sure we will be for any next level players, it comes from being in a position to punch above our weight I suppose. As long as they're comitted to the cause when they do sign I'm all for these types of players, I wasn't sure shaqiri was tbh last season. A couple of better yonug championship players with the desire to prove they could do it in the Premiership and see stoke as a step up would be good though
