Elliot as the new assistant manager of the U23? This does look like the first move to replace Hodges, which is not a surprise given the disappointing results achieved under Glyn Hodges. It may even be a clue as to what will happen in the summer to Mark Hughes himself, as Hodges is a Hughes appointment. As for Denis Smith, I think he is spot on with his recommendation about Tom Edwards. I recall Pej making his debut at the age of 18 and he went on to play for England. My recollection is that both Smith and Pejic were brought in to play against West Ham at Upton Park, captained by Bobby Moore, and both players were outstanding. Perhaps Souttar is not far off a Premier League debut also.

It's about the players produced and at the minute they're doing that. The brick wall has been the manager. Frank Sinclair was asst manager before, this is just making it permanent and making the set up even more professional I hope. Souttar is good but miles off imo. Physically and ability. He's a good defender but makes too many naive mistakes as you'd expect. That needs polishing in the u23s and out on loan next season. Because he could be a very good league centre back.

He has certainly got a mountain to climb if he wants to make it into the 1st team.

Elliot is filling the gap left after John Perkins passed away earlier in the season. Have you heard anything on Verlinden, mate? Still having issues with his back?

I just don't think they are taking any chances with him. U23's have 3 league games and a cup game left but I imagine the aim is more gym work and back for preseason.

Verlinden or anyone of that age are still growing so back injuries you'd imagine would need more care than someone who is fully grown. Hope he recovers fully and makes an impact on the first team next season.

Theres a couple of players we let go who are doing well. Leicester have just signed a young lad Josh Gordon for there u23s who was playing for Stafford having been released by us a few years ago. Saw him a few times for stafford and looks a brill talent. I would love for us to use a non league team as a better version of the U23 league send 5/6 players for the season and let them play proper football and play as a team together.

Not beating the system with anything just saying hes an ex stokie whos just signed for a prem league team. Im just glad these players get the chance to showcase there talent. I know the B team idea is hated in this country but now the loan window has been closed apart from the 2 transfer windows i think clubs should look at using a feeder club at lower level to allow there academy players to go out and get games. Also any idea on what joel taylor has done at rochdale not to get any game time
