The new season is upon us, so it seems like a good enough time to start this again with rumours of a few younger players being bid for etc. The U-18's squad is absolutely threadbare. The U-21's need some defenders and wingers (Verlinden could be used way in the U-21's I guess. So if Souttar does sign he would have a place already in the U-21's. I will update the squad lists when we know just who is going to be either squad but so far I think the squads will look like this (it's not including any rumoured players so far). The only one I've seen is Paul McGuiness, the ex Man Yoo man. But yeah we need them in as soon as really. Lasse Sorensen will be in the U-18's actually, I will add him now. |

I read that TS says they are not short of applicants, I guess they are taking their time to get it right.
Paul McGuiness sounds good but not sure of his relationship with sparkie.
will be interesting to see how ends up with the job.

It really will. I'd like to see a focus on bringing through English and relatively local players tbh. I think it's an area that in the last few years we've struggled (you've only got to look at the squads above).

The more local players coming through into the first team squad, even if not quite as good, helps to keep the connection between fan and club. Without it the ties become looser and the positive passion can be reduced. With it we could get the crowd back and be the battle cry to raise performances from our team. It's surprising to see as many gaps in these two squads as we do. Surely could be filled by top top talent or local, not in between stuff. |

With regards to th U18 bayern, if we don't get the required bodies in, will we just disband it or shuffle a few of the U21 into it...?
Is it mandatory to have 2 teams so as to show we have development plans for potential players...?

Silva barely played last season though and was often on the bench so I'd find that a strange one. Sadiki maybe but I think he'll be the one to swap between the the two. |

They will be moving players up from the under 16s and getting released u16s from other clubs and European players. There's an u18 and u21 league so we have the two teams. The u21 league was made so players have the chance to develop when before it was either sign pro or leave at u18' level. |

Oli Roberts was let go and I'm not sure Tom Dyche is still there, if he isn't it's a shame as he was a good keeper. I'm pretty sure N'Goys contract was sorted some time ago.

I had great hopes of the academy and have supported it for years but we see no evidence of anyone coming through.
Is this the case. It seemed two seasons ago that Ollie Shenton might make it but he appeared to be nowhere last year.
Then at the end of the season Sparky had a good opportunity to meet Moha (i think) but never gave him a runout.
Is Sparky as enthusiastic as TP was (not at all) or is the raw material not good enough.
Would welcome your thoughts

We have a few who I feel should have at least been on the bench last season with our injury crisis but weren't. And it was an opportunity missed imo. |
