Surely this is a make or break season for George Waring given that his contract only runs until next summer and he turns 22 this year. Seemed to struggle to make an impact on loan at Oxford last season but performed well at Barnsley a year earlier. It'd probably be in his and the clubs best interests to try and get him another loan deal at League One level at least this season, hopefully then he can show promise and give the club something to think about. It's hard to imagine he's going to make the grade for us now but good luck to him.

I really think it's bad that it has taken so long to appoint a new academy director given it's the busiest time player recruitment wise.

Super picky, but surely a better pen could have been handed to the lad... it even looks like it's been barcoded.
Fingers crossed he has the potential to get a break into our first team squad during his present contract.

Think the lack of young players coming through is a issue across the premier league and below, West Ham, Chelsea, man city and even Reading had one or two useful talented lads but as before the chance to break through is very very limited.
This has been a ongoing trend for years remember when the last games of the season were used to blood a younger player. At present don't see much light at the end of the tunnel.
Wouldn't,t it be good to see at least one player on the bench think the crowd would lift them and genuine pride could be taken from it

One of the big differences now is that we can afford to go out and buy anyone we want whenever we want as opposed to waiting for young lads to develop. Also we are fishing in a bigger pool by being able to cast the net worldwide for young players to bring in to the academy. Which is why its even more difficult for younger local lads to come through.

I know a little about this lad as his Grandad is a mate of mine,comes from a family of good athletes , has been with Stoke since he was about 7 , but not as a goalkeeper!, he played in goal once when the goalie got injured and played so well ,they asked him to play in goal on a regular basis. His coach reckons his distribution is as good as any keeper on the books. |

Looks like Connor Russo who played a few times for the 18s last season has signed too.
I think he's been with us for a while but not sure.
He's a midfielder I think.
