Noticed earlier that our U23 Premier League cup game at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United has been moved to a 2pm kick off from 7pm on Monday 23rd January if anyone is remotely interested. Think I might try and get along to this one.

Don't suppose the U23s right-back (is it Edwards?) would be a contender to deputise if Bardsley joins Johnson on the treatment table and misses out at Hull? In years gone by, as a pro footballer employed by the club, he would have automatically been in the mix to fill in, in the midst of an injury crisis. But just shows how these shadow U23 systems operate now that it looks a total non-runner and you'd expect Muniesa or even Diouf to step up if we don't want to disrupt the Whelan-Cameron axis Edwards looks decent but is probably a bit too inexperienced and not ready for it. It'd probably be Renville-Pringle.

I really do think N'Goy/Telford/Verlinden would have flourished against that shower of shit yesterday. Nevermind our young Egyptian international.

Good point, but do you think those two midfielders should be in the team at the moment on previous performances? Our midfield looks a lot stronger now than it has whilst Imbula has been at the club, whilst even with the arrival of Bony we haven't really improved up top, I'd definitely be looking for Telford and Ngoy to get their chance. We know that Walters/Crouch are okay but aren't going to be a long term solution, these guys could be. Surely we could afford to have just one of the u23s in the full squad each match day.

They should be in the squad. And off the bench if not starting. Yesterday's midfield sub should've been one who could hold onto the ball and dictate play while retaining possession like Imbula does. Adam doesn't. Walters...your guess is as good as mine. Sobhi should be in before him. Bojan should've been a striker sub before Walters. The youth won't get a chance. Not until the plague strikes.

I'm all for giving youth a chance but it should be the better players like Verlinden and Ngoy. Our defence in both the U23s and 18s is generally pretty poor.

I agree with everything you say apart from Imbula. What is it I am missing out about him? He obviously has talent technically and physically, but as part of a team I can't think of anything he does right. He runs into the space our other players have so they are less effective and he doesn't defend or at least slow up the opposition by being in position. I wouldn't put him anywhere near the squad until he has figured out these very basic parts of being a CM.

I do fear some people have put such emphasis on Imbula's defensive deficiencies that they're neglecting his attacking strengths altogether. He is excellent and carrying the ball from our half to the opposition half. Going from our box to their box. He's smart on the ball, strong on the ball and nigh-on unstoppable when in full flight. He's even chipped in with a couple of goals since arriving. He's not the perfect player but it's astounding how one of his calibre isn't in the squad.

Fair comment; he is excellent with carrying the ball using his strength to get into the opposition half and it can be useful. Do you think he tries to do that too much? In my eyes he tries it far too often. He does have a pretty decent technique for striking the ball and it's no surprise that with that he will score, I don't think he takes too many shots either so he does do that well. Maybe when we can afford to take more of a risk he could have more of a positive impact in our team, hopefully we will be in that position sooner rather than later too as he did cost a LOT of money.

The u18s beat WBA away.
Twyford with the goal.
The U23s drew with Brighton 1-1 at home.
Telford with a peno and Taylor sent off.

Still no Souttar and Dunwoody looks like he's returned from Leek where he did well.
EDIT-Souttar is with the Scottish u19s.

Sweet! Is he our player 100% Bayern? I have no idea. That tweet above suggests to me that he is, it's the first time he's tweeted anything to do with us. But I don't know if he has actually signed or not. We've got Hanley Town away in the next round.

Something to do with tribunal payments as to why it's taken so long to announce. Even now the club haven't. He is 100% a Stoke player

Who is this Campbell lad? Kevin Campbell's son. He's come from citeh and while he's been with us for a while there seems to have been some issue around fees etc so we've not seen anything official. He's had a fairly decent scoring record and has already bagged a few for us.
