If the company I work for, offered me a new and improved 4 year contract and gave me until the end of August to sign it. I can't say I would sign it straight away either. Not because I am not happy where I am, I am more than happy. But, if there was a possibility of a better job offer coming along in the meantime, that paid more money and also offer opportunities for me to ply my trade around Europe, I would definitely keep my options open. But I will be disappointed if he left us for Everton, albeit a larger club than Stoke, I do not see them as a step up at this moment in time. A few years ago, definitely, but not the way I think Stoke are moving forward under Hughes at this current time.
I hope Arnie stays and I really do think he will.

When he first came here he was struggling for form and his position in the side, stoke have in some respects turned his career around with their patients and encouragement. For him to now turn around and potentially say he wants a move to Everton is imo disgraceful and shows how petulant he can be.if he stays then great but I won't be one to morn his loss to Everton Please tell me where Arnie has ever even hinted he wants to move to Everton? What is more disgraceful and petulant is you making comments on our top scorer of last season with no foundation of fact.

If he didn't go now, he'd go next year might as well get some cash. Lets face it he's not the best, he's replaceable and can easily be marked out of a game by tight marking, he gets frustrated and doesn't try

Far too many are jumping the gun at this point, he hasn't gone anywhere yet, and even if he does he doesn't deserve some of the bile and negativity I've seen from some posters on this thread. These people would believe their mum was Anne Frank if they read it in a newspaper.

Sorry Arnie supporters
I've said it before; I'll say it again; he's brilliant on his day, but those days are TOO infrequent for mine
He's petulant and childish for the most part and spends too much time shrugging his shoulders and avoiding tripping over his bottom lip
Get rid......Everton are welcome to him, and his wage demands
Just my ha'penny worth, like

As good as he is on his day, am I the only one that thinks he is far too inconsistent to be going around demanding wages far above his station?

The contract we are offering has a very high release clause and he doesn't want it to be that high. The extra money isn't as big a deal as it is made out to be. If this is the big point it must be possible to find middle ground! If Arnie is wanted by the CL teams £20M should be no problem in today's market! Offer him a four-year-contract on the same wages as the top earner at the club and a release clause close to £20M if a CL club comes in for him. Should be a good deal for both parties I think!

If arnie goes the transfer window for Stoke at that point would be a disaster.
We currently need a CB , striker and reserve keeper
If arnie goes. Another winger

Exactly, so why can't you wait and see before sticking the boot in and calling him a greedy bastard? Because he is a greedy bastard. He's going to leave in order to be paid more money. If he leaves to a team playing European football, I'll accept it as that was what was stated at first. If not - he can get fucked.

Just my ha'penny worth, like Of course he could be more consistent, but compared to our other attacking players he was the most consistent and the one to create and score goals to a total different degree to any other player in our team!

Just my ha'penny worth, like Last season without his goals assists etc we would of being in trouble in terms of league position. Regardless of his general mannerisms he was our best player who is capable of changing games. Keeping him out ways the negatives simple as!

My point is that he is our best attacking player, IF and/or WHEN he puts his mind to it....which is NOT every game
Oh, and you wouldn't have seen me at ANY Stoke matches for the past 40-odd years, me old pal......unless you were in Singapore last July I remember the days of Sir Stan, Tony Waddington, Peter Dobing,John Ritchie, Eric Skeels et al

I think given his brother was supposedly at clayton yesterday and with arnie flying out to USA yesterday, seems a little strange considering all the press are saying a deal is "close" if it was close they would have knew about this deal for a couple of days previous to him going on the USA tour, Until he either does sign for someone else or renews his contract, I'm not going to keep worrying about this one. Hopefully he will sign a new contract but who knows.
