Arnautovic spent the first period of his Stoke career (remembering that we signed him as something of a big-club failure at the time) frustrating the hell out of any Stoke fan that could bear to watch. A few games in, I can remember thinking "what the f@#k?". He's never really lost that frustrating streak, but as he got to grips with the Premier League, he became more consistent and today I'd say he's our most exciting player when on-song. You'll find him frustrating and exciting in equal measure; you won't find many players stronger on the ball, he's a beast when in the mood. He's got decent vision, just keep him off free kicks :/ He is a sulky so-and-so though, and although he does track back well, 90% of the time he's busting a gut to recover a ball he's lost. He seems to have an over-inflated opinion of himself, which comes across as arrogance, but I like that in a player. For £12.5m some other club, Everton or whoever, will be getting a steal in today's market. He couldn't be trusted anywhere near a Top 4 side, he's too inconsistent, and I genuinely don't think he'd be getting regular football at any of Man City, Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, even Liverpool. He just 'does things' that top sides wouldn't tolerate. His well-documented 'Champions League Winners' boots are as close as he'll get to the real thing. I love Arnie because he's the first maverick-with-talent we've had for ages. I can't understand a move to Everton, if it's for anything other than money, that's with all due respect because you're at the next level from us, albeit the margins are fine and you've struggled more recently. You're also not the PSG-type club, which I think is where he sees himself. £12.5m isn't a lot these days which makes any potential move all the more galling. It's too early to say "thanks for the memories Arnie" because he's literally not 'done it' for very long with us, and to this day, hasn't proven himself to be the player he thinks he is. All of that said, if he does sign a new contract, it will feel like a new signing, and a good proportion of Stoke fans will be chuffed to bits. Very good appraisal - and I too would love to see him to stay. A real character and would be sadly missed.

Put it this way, if the deal is as close as reported, he'll be flying straight out of Florida pretty sharpish. No hurry. Remember, he's already signed the contract...

I think that Frustrated By weeds has got it exactly right. A perfect summary of Arnie, on his day brilliant(and he was in quite a few games last year), but when the gloom is with him, he is incredibly frustrating. Given that he isn't being chased by one of Europe's elite (no disrespect to Everton), he needs to sort out where he wants to play - because if his head is not right, he becomes a liability. The sulking heads down, arms in the air, holding the shin, when he loses the ball does my head in. If he signs great, if he doesn't just go out and buy a replacement and enjoy watching it all go pear shaped for him. Don't forget, Everton boo their best players most home games. Arnie will love it!

Everton are as close to getting into the top four or winning silverware as we are, unless they offer him stupid money then it really would be a sideways move at this stage of his career.

I don't think Arnie is going but if he does, who are in the running to be his replacement? (Sobhi won't be thrown straight in)
Chadli? Mirallas? Back in for Yarmolenko?
I reckon we'll go big on a replacement if needs be.

Think he would be a very good signing for £12-15 million. Lukaku will stay this year we have effectively priced him out of a move at £75 million,Stones will go for £50-55 million though. Martinez massively mismanaged us the last 2 seasons the current squad had us on 72 points 3 seasons ago which would have had us 2nd/3rd this season just gone. Koeman will instantly improve us and 4-5 good signings will push us on imo. Will be very tight in the top half next season though.
Linked currently with Witsel, Carvalho and Koulibaly (at £40 million!), if we could get those in + a solid GK I would be very happy.
(GK)
Coleman Koulibaly Jagielka Baines
Witsel Carvalho
Deulofeu Barkley Arnautovic
Lukaku
Alot of strength in that side we have been weak as piss last season.

I reckon Arni will be under a lot of "pressure" from the team to sign a new contract in the States, particularly when the new guys arrive.

Rarely comment on transfer threads but what would be people's thoughts of holding on to him and losing him for zip next year ? He only cost £2 million which a club loses if it sneezes these days. Only thing is which I know you will all point out is do we won't a player who clearly doesn't want to play for us if we block a move ? Just thinking out loud really .....

That looks very boom or bust to me, the names mentioned plus Arnie and a keeper will be the thick end of circa £110m even if Stones goes to balance a third to half of it.

Fingers crossed he stays. Doing a WBA isn't the answer. I think we're better than that. Treat him well and we'll have a better chance of him staying. Scholes in.

We have an attachment to Arnie, but in the cold light of day 15 million euros is not to be scoffed at for a player (in the final year of his contract) who believes he's bigger and better than Stoke. As a previous poster said, he probably didn't have Everton in mind when he was angling for a move elsewhere. In the meantime (following a dreadful Euro campaign), he's probably convinced himself he needs a fresh challenge and will go anywhere just to get the extra weekly paypacket he thinks he is worth. I'd like to say I wish him well if he does go, but being truthful, I don't. What a load of bollocks.

Be surprised if you got all of those targets through the door. If you do take Arnie off us then I hope you enjoy what he brings. Mercurial talent with a huge dollop of bat shit crazy. I will be gutted if he goes.

Could be the biggest mistake that Arnie makes, but there you go thats football & thats life. Thanks Arnie for everything, but no one player is ever as big as the Club regardless of how much his wage packet is. Sorry to see you go in all honesty, but we all move on....

Mirallas who regularly couldn't get in a side that finished below us is better than Arnie who scored 12 goals and had 7 assists and played every game?
Anyone got a newspaper? I could do with checking the date?

When you consider that their new owner is about 15th on the prem club owners rich list I really don't understand why they think they are going to be the next Man City or Chelsea, they are not and they have to pay for a new ground, they are a grand old club but they are not going to catch the top 4 or 5 anytime soon!

Not sure that this Everton move has any substance. Probably just made up by his agent to drum up some interest? It seems like no one wants him but he wants out.
