Charlie Adam on radio five live now talking about transfers... interestingly he said that a lot of our players are waiting to see if Arnie going to sign as he's a hugely important player and some are awaiting his decision before deciding on their own futures. I only switched on halfway through but sure it'll be on podcast later. Yikes. That's a bit concerning.

The conversation started with Leicester and whether Vardy might be regretting his decision to stay at Leicester if they lose their other top players this summer. Charlie said players do look at what's happening at their own club when considering their future, and said that Stoke were in danger of losing one of their best this summer. I'm not sure he was saying that our players were hanging on the outcome of Arnie's contract situation, he was really referring to Leicester - but he did say the players were watching Arnie's situation with interest.

Butland Ryan Pieters, Bojan and Shaqiri are all tied to long contracts. Imbula only signed in January. There is nothing to see here. Adam should stick to getting fit.

Adam needs to go IMO, he can't be saying shit like that on public radio in the middle of a bloody transfer window, first the blabbing about Shaqiri's Everton goal now this?
Edit: Bit harsh after hearing it myself, Shaqiri bit still stands though

Leicester is his target destination if Mahrez goes . I think that would be a huge mistake for him personally. Leicester fans are used to players who are selfless runners. Arni's pets and terrible body language would not go down with them at all IMO. I think his career would quickly go off the rails again. On the other hand if Arni is demanding a ridiculous wage rise and we can get >£20m for him (which doesn't seem to get much these days!) I'd let him go. There's a fatal flaw in that "take the money and run" approach. So we sell Arnie for 20 million and we have a nice fat bank balance. However, we need to spend at least that much to replace him at a time when we are having trouble attracting players such as Berahino. One of our selling point for a striker like Berahino is having a player like Arnie to get him the ball and draw defenders away. So it's double jeopardy. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Berahino is waiting to see if Arnie is staying before he makes a move. Complicated, init?

I reckon he's reassessed his new hairdo and doesn't want to walk into an already-full dressing room.

Adam's interview shows the folly of not getting business done early and the effect it has on the whole Squad plus those thinking of joining . The palace story for example with Townsend and Tomkins in the bag looks a lot more convincing to a Berahino than ours add that to palace are in at £20m and it's easy to see why we are struggling in the market .

Yeah prospective signings will be like "fuck, isn't Stoke that team that didn't sign Tomkins and Townsend? I ain't going there"

A side that just escaped relegation has signed a player from a side that got relegated and a squad player from a team that finished two places higher than Stoke. I can just imagine Benji bleating if Stoke had purchased players from a similar set of teams; probably it would have been seen as a lack of ambition and shopping in the bargain basement. Having said that, I would like to have signed Tompkins.

Either would get in our team on merit on last seasons form . Very wary to knock others but we Failed to invest early last summer and then spent £30m catching up and neither Shaq or Imbula could at this stage be argued to be outstanding value so is take Townsend and Tomkins all day long for about 15 m

I'm still struggling to think of clubs who'd be seriously in for him.
Everton are the main ones (although we're yet to see any kind of serious link), and maybe Leicester if thy sold Mahrez. Still think it's a long shot though.
