WMP...why am I not surprised! Well done FSF, and I hope the "5 figure sum" was at the top end of that particular range As Bayern says, copper should have been sacked at least

Well done to your team , Malcolm and I know the Police disciplinary process is not the FSF’s remit but a ‘final written warning’. You get one of those for nicking staplers and being shown drunk at Sandown on Channel 4 racing on a sick day…….apparently.

Glad he got a final warning, seems fair. WHAT THE FUCK? Why isn't he in jail? Indeed. You might well speculate on what would have happened to a supporter who did exactly the same to a PC or indeed to another supporter. And very brave to do it to someone with his hands handcuffed behind his back. Like I said, as bad as any ive come across particularly as all the fan did was question his behaviour to other fans and not displaying his number

Credit also to "another officer" - it takes a bit of character to do the right thing like that. He must have been off sick the day they did sticking together and lying to protect colleagues training.

In any other walk of life the cunt would have been sacked on the spot for gross misconduct, handed over to the law( ) charged with aggravated assault and subjected to justice as laid out by the law's of the land, neither of these things have happened why because he is a serving Police Officer employed by the tax payers of this country to uphold the law, it fucking stinks if the offence had been the other way around I wonder if the outcome would have been the same. There should be an independent inquiry into this incident, feckin Police service my arse bunch of cowardly bullies hiding behind a uniform they are above the law not upholding it.

I wonder if this other officer reported this assault to his employer ?, or just maybe he was protecting his colleague by intervening to stop this unprovoked attack going any further, birds of a feather shit together the thick blue line exposed yet again cowards in uniform.

Is it possible for a copper to be held fully accountable for their actions in Britain?
While the police investigate themselves it seems they can do whatever they want with impunity.
"Final written warning", my arse.
Does that mean this twat has had other warnings already?

And thirty years ago the victim would have been regarded as a thug who deserved everything he got....such was the disgust football fans were viewed with.
This is an example of the refreshing change the FSF brought to football supporters.

Try reading the article. The 2nd officer made an official complaint against the 1st officer. Which has eventually helped this fans case for compensation.

So, the rogue officer has committed perjury and assault. And the prosecution team who brought the original case against the fan failed in their obligation to make full disclosure of all material facts to the defence. And the outcome is that the officer got a "final warning". Bloody hell - that's appalling. I don't see what's stopping the Justice Minister ordering an independent enquiry into the case - other than the fact that the minister is Michael Gove, of course!

Apologies did not read the article, in which case hat's off to the other officer however the fact remains this thug should have been sacked on the spot, his pension withdrawn and been subjected to a charge of aggravated assault as would any citizen, compensation will be paid by the tax payers of this country and this cowardly twat will also be continued to draw a wage from the public purse he should be sacked immediately at least.

Here is a much longer account of what happened from the FSF site. A disgraceful storyI've posted the following in the comments section of the FSF website - I hope Coventry fans and the local media will take up my suggestion. "Elections will take place on 5th May for Police and Crime Commissioners for every Police Force in England. Surely Coventry fans and the local Coventry media should be asking EVERY candidate for the post of Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands what their opinion is about this case and what they will do about it if they are elected on 5th May."

Thanks for posting that John. As you say a much fuller story. Not sure why I didn't post our own link in the first place As others have said, full credit to PC X

Possibly, the settlement avoided that (or ensured that the apology for a policeman avoided a conviction). Nice and, of course, ultimately funded by the public purse (our taxes). Do words like thug and yob spring to mind in cases like this?

when his colleague feels the need to report him you know he should be in the dock - closing ranks just serves to further erode the relationship between the police and those they are supposed to serve.

It must be great being a copper. You can spend your day cracking skulls, harming innocent people, skimming a bit off the top, enjoying all those police benefits and know full well that you will literally never be prosecuted for any crime you commit (even manslaughter).
And the police wonder why the public fucking hate them?

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner is the local governing body for policing in our area. The PCC has an over-arching duty to secure an effective and efficient police force. The PCC has three main roles, which are to: Set the priorities for policing Decide the budget for West Midlands Police Hold the Chief Constable of West Midlands Police to account www.choosemypcc.org.uk/Information on candidates standing in your area will be available on this website from around 13th April when candidate statements will be published. You will be able to view all the information from this date and download a candidate information booklet for printing if you wish. Will be contacting all 4 candidates as suggested

Not sure that kneeing someone in the head is doing a good job in testing circumstances is it? I find the police in this country are complacent and this contributes to their arrogance i.e. "I can do whatever I want without punishment". Do you really think the officer who smashed up this poor Coventry fan would have done it if he thought he would get caught? Of course not.
