Anyone know what the final gate was? There was more than I thought , credit to everyone. Great to see some old faces and reminisce.

Incidentally, who was it that Bardsley smashed in that 50/50?

I've just had a 10 minute chat with mark stein at stoke station. He is truly humbled by the reception he got last night and by the reception he gets whenever he returns to the area and the club. I was totally star struck

Think this steward might be in trouble /video/1 What a pig. You would have thought the club would give clear direction to both the fans and the stewards about what to do in the event of a pitch invasion. It was clearly going to happen so they should have just said to stewards to not resist. (Unless they did and this bloke is a vale fan who managed to get a job to kick a City fan (who am I kidding, a vale fan with a job?!))

I thought Simmo did particularly well. As did Gyollai first half. I like the cut of that lad's jib. Team sheet and BBC Radio Stoke said that Bachmann played in goal for the first half.

He was also responsible for the shocking challenge to give away the penalty

Steward was an utter wanker and a coward. We'd spotted him from the corner of the Q Railing, along with around half a dozen other fans. Loads of us went to the Stoke Steward in front of us and we were all pointing at the Showsec guy, Stoke Steward also witnessed this and said he would make an official complaint. At this point he realised he'd been clocked and slunk away towards the St John Ambulances. He never returned.
I've just sent an email with a copy of that video to both Showsec and the club. He's a violent thug that has no place working with the general public. If you want to make your opinions known Showsec have a twitter account @showsecuk and the contact for the West Midlands is ieuan.fury@showsec.co.uk

What a fantastic night and a great attendance. You couldn't have scripted it better. Some great talent from past and present and an ending that belongs in a fairy story - Wilko scores to make it 3-3 and the fans invade the pitch without rancour just as they used to do in the olden days. And, personally, special for me because, for us, it was granddad, dad, and the grandsons all together to watch this feast of talent from past and present. Memories that will, hopefully, live long after I've popped my clogs. But that's what life is all about... those special memories. So thank you Wilko, all the players who took part, and the club for putting it on. And a special thanks to the Coates family. Without them none of this would have been possible. OS.

I was totally star struck I was lucky enough to get a photo with Steino and a few seconds of talking with him. What a man. What a guy. He stuck around basically until the stewards kicked him off the pitch. He, Rory, Ricardo, Abdoulaye and Higgy are absolute gems. Couldn't believe how long they stayed on the pitch signing autographs. Truly a night of dreams. Wilko, you'll never be forgotten mate.

Team sheet and BBC Radio Stoke said that Bachmann played in goal for the first half. he did. Simmo and bachmann were the goalies, Simmo was head and shoulders the better one. Simmo was incredible. That save from about 3 yards was genuinely exceptional. I was convinced he had retired, but turns out he's still playing which perhaps explains it. We wouldn't go far wrong signing him as a third choice tbh. He made more decent saves in one game than Haugaard has in several. Was great to see Carlo Nash as well, even if he did put a fairly poor effort in to saving that penalty Steward was an utter wanker and a coward. We'd spotted him from the corner of the Q Railing, along with around half a dozen other fans. Loads of us went to the Stoke Steward in front of us and we were all pointing at the Showsec guy, Stoke Steward also witnessed this and said he would make an official complaint. He's a violent thug that has no place working with the general public. If you want to make your opinions known Showsec have a twitter account @showsecuk and the contact for the West Midlands is ieuan.fury@showsec.co.uk He wasn't the only one. I have pointed out several times now how other stewards acted around the ground, so please don't let it turn into his show. A number of stewards acted cowardly last night. At the bottom of block 23, the lad manning the gate CLOSED it as the fans got down to the bottom, which resulted in quite a bad crush. Eventually, the gate collapsed and the people at the front (a few of whom were kids) fell onto the gate and people fell from above. Genuinely could have resulted in serious injuries, it seems as though everyone were okay which is great, but those stewards at block 23 were fucking cowards. Special mention to the blonde lady at the top of the stairs and the young man at the bottom manning the gatee. Fucking dickheads both of them.

Last one I went to was Ian Cranson's against Everton. Wasn't that the last game at the Vic? Or second to last. We played Coventry after the Cranson / Everton testimonial in the last ever friendly at the Vic. The Cranson one had a crowd of about 9,500. Seems small but that was probably about 80% of our home gate at the time. Cranson's testimonial was more down to his career being ended with injury, I think he only played eight years for us but broke down with another knee problem at the start of the season

Wonder who will get the next Testimonial? My guess would be Ryan Shawcross looks a certainty. Nine years this coming August since he first came from Man United. Whelan arrived five months later in January. It's rare players stick around so long these days. A quick check and Ryan has now played 344 games and Whelan 306 times. Both are likely to break into our top twenty all time appearances table (stolen from Wikipedia, below). Ryan is just two behind Greenhoff at the moment. 1 Eric Skeels 597 2 John McCue 542 3 Bob McGrory 511 4 Denis Smith 493 5 Alan Bloor 482 6 Peter Fox 477 7 Tony Allen 473 8 Jackie Marsh 444 9 Frank Bowyer 436 10 Frank Mountford 425 11 Alan Dood 418 12 John Sellars 413 13 Harry Davies 411 14 Harry Sellars 395 15 Peter Dobing 377 16 Stanley Matthews 355 17 Billy Spencer 354 18 John Ritchie 351 19 Harry Oscroft 349 20 Jimmy Greenhoff 346

Great day that was. I remember two lads running on the pitch part way through the game and mobbing him. Not quite the pitch invasion of last night, but still poignant.

Announcer got it wrong then. Unless my ears are as bad as my eyes these days! It was definitely Bachmann who went off early 2nd half. I must have imagined a switch in the first half. :-)

One legendary captain replacing another - very apt.
