Amazing what one knock can do for your confidence, Buttler is well and truly back in the groove.

Perfect one day innings from England this. Set up brilliantly by the top order and the willingness to play with the order has allowed Buttler to take the game away from Pakistan at the end. Really encouraging stuff.

Absolutely outrageous from Jos Buttler. 104 from 46 deliveries. Amazing what a bit of confidence can do for you. Credit to the captain for promoting him up the order as well.

Just wonderful - 116 not out from 52 balls with 8 sixes. He is extraordinary. He's earned a place back in the test team. He just needs to remember to bat in a test as if he is batting in an ODI - which is fine when he's coming in at no.7.

Didn't see this run chase coming. 131 needed from 110. 5 wickets down.

Great result for the game and the series.
An amazing turnaround through the year after the disastrous World Cup with series wins against New Zealand and now Pakistan and a narrow loss to the world champions Australia.
But one stat sums up the change around for me: England have passed 350 just six times in 40 years of ODI cricket; four of those have been this year!!!

Into the final leg of the series - 3 T20 internationals
England have just finished their innings after winning the toss and choosing to bat. 160-5 is not bad at all - particularly as we were 19-3. Billings (in for Butler) made the difference 53 of 25 balls (very Butler like!). Good contributions from Morgan and debutant Vince who helped England recover from a bad start.
Now over to the bowlers!

I think it's just a case of resting the test players were it not spin friendly i'm sure Mo wouldn't be there either.

That's true enough I suppose , but Taylor has not been over taxed so far this winter and I do feel now that he appears to have broken into the team , the more games he gets under his belt the better for himself and the team .....just my opinion of course , the selectors will say otherwise .

I wouldn't disagree and i'm sure the lad would rather play whether it's more to give them some time at home before the Saffa tour rather than playing too much. Anyway that run out must be the funniest thing i've seen in a long time having to goto the third ump to see which one was out

Very pleased to see England win. Nice to see two more young lions stepping up to the plate.
Very good to see Plunkett bowl well - which begs the question; why didn't he make the squad for South Africa?
Any way - more of the same tomorrow please.

Plunkett should be there, very underrated bowler and criminal that they've chosen Woakes instead of him

Plunkett should be there, very underrated bowler and criminal that they've chosen Woakes instead of him Hard to disagree with that mate . I'll disagree with it I think Woakes is there more as an alternative to Stokes who seems a bit too much feast or famine. Woakes has a better batting average I believe and is a much improved bowler who has added a little pace needed for the top level and is also a much more accurate bowler. Long term we also need an Anderson type bowler replacement. Having said that I like Plunkett but if you query anyone's selection ahead of him it would be Jordan as just can't see him getting a game under any scenario.

If you require a seam bowler who is an outstanding slip fielder , then that would be an Ideal scenario as this is an unlikely scenario though you could be right .Im sorry but I don't see Woakes as an Anderson type replacement .....I'm not sure that there is one around at the present time

Woakes did well at the end of England's innings in the second T20. 14 off the last over, 15 off 7 balls in hotel for him. He's a tidy cricketer - fits the bill in tests as 4th seamer / #8 bat. Which is what I see Stokes as just now, with Stokes ahead of him.
Overall, 172 - 8 after 20 overs. Runs from quite a few batsmen. Pretty good effort.
Next up, Pakistan's reply. I think this could well be a close one!

I see some potential in Woakes, if others don't we'll see who is right in a couple of years, no need for a meeting at Sir Stan's statue

I've a mate who is a warwickshire fan and sees a lot more of woakes and says he is a much better red ball bowler than most people realise, I reckon he'll play in South Africa so we'll see one way or the other... Bad start with the ball at this rate it won't be going the full 20

Very poor with the ball so far, they haven't bowled any variations, making it too easy for the batsmen.

He has definitely added a yard of pace unless it was my eyes i'm sure it was saying 86mph and 88mph when he was just bowling, against the aussies on his test debut he was bowling lollipops and they were taking liberties. Great move to bring Plunkett back but you'd think Pakistan have too many wickets in hand not too win now.

Much closer than it looked it was going to be after the first few overs and with 10 to go, fair play to england for winning we could have a chance in the 20/20 World Cup if they keep on like this.
