Pre season yes BUT, a day after - Im still trying to work out what on earth he was thinking
a) I might concede a penalty ?
b) let him go by, he's run too wide already ?
c) If I stretch, I might injure myself ?
d) I cant be arsed - its too hot ?
e) what am I doing wasting my time at Stoke ?
Whatever it was - do it again especially in front of your home Stoke City crowd - and your dead meat fella
thats all I can say really
and next week - after that - if you think you're starting against your old club
you're delusional

He was extremely bad yesterday, but so far I think I'll blame it on the fact that he hasn't had much of a preseason.
He is not ready for next Sunday

I'd go for (c) re getting injured followed by (a) more likely to score from a penalty.
To be fair their forward did well
Glenn Johnson is a Stoke player now and the fans need to support him.
He's far from match fit and has a way to go before 90 mins but MH would not have signed him if he had no belief in his ability.
I hope that he doesn't get the criticism that is also being directed at Wollscheid - a settled defence is very important and it's going to take some time to get it sorted imo

More - what he didnt do - 2 minutes left in the game he literally lets a fella walk past him in the box without even attempting to stop him scoring the winning goal.
Theres young acadamy kids we got who, (E.G. YOUNG RIGHT BACK WHO DID SECOND HALF AT WREXHAM) would love a chance to play in such games
to not even try - wearing our bloody shirt - friendly or not, near unforgivable in my book
and yes
welcome to Stoke
dont try - and see what you get
was raging at the telly at the time - still pretty pissed off right now

I've said from day one I think he's shit but I don't see the reason in over analysing one moment in a pre season friendly,

I'm starting to feel any RB is going to be doomed before it began on here.... FFS, you'd think people would have learned from poor Geoff's massive ostracization before realizing he's been our best RB for the last two seasons all the while going through the ringer from the usual suspects. Then there was Bardsley's huge build-up and (eventual decline like myself and many saw coming). Good luck Glenn because your going to feckin' need it come the 9th of August if were seeing this shit in pre-season from the oatcake mafia. IT'S FUCKING PRE-SEASON YOU TITS.

He was too busy picturing in his mind how much better the ground would look with the corner filled in, but then realised if we did ever fill the corner of the ground in we would suddenly be able to attract the worlds greatest right backs and he would be out of the team.
Stressful stuff that corner, it even gets in the minds of the players.

This is a shit tin pot cup in Germany during the pre-season and i'll need my health to get back to full compliment to play full speed a few weeks after the start of the season... which any rational person would think, but here we are... Oatcake logic.

It's not part of some campaign to see him fail, it was just a really bad bit of powder puff play.

I'd say d.
Butland clearly wasn't happy with the spineless effort, you could tell he wanted to tear Johnson a new one, but remained reserved.

It's only kindling to the eventual flames of the eventual witch hunt. Seen it all to early and often on here. You'd think some would learn. Doesn't mean he'll always do that, but in all honesty watching it over and over again, it's refreshing to know he's experienced enough to realize where he is in the pre-season and not be rash and hurt himself which couldn't be said from others in his place at RB. I think people will be surprised if they ever get to see a fully-fit glenn johnson. In fact I hope we do so our utility, starters and all the players can focus on more pressing areas.

Isn't the time to crucify our players during and after the first game of the PL season next Sunday or are we starting early this year?
The focus should be on our transfer team and their (current) failure to land big targets.

Don't get why people are questioning it so much? He's obviously not match fit yet and in that split second he made a decision, the right one imo, had he been fitter or it been earlier in the game he would have closed him down quicker and maybe got to the ball, at that point in the game if he'd tripped him it's a definite penalty if he lets him pass he's getting a shot off from a wider angle
Penalty or a shot from a wider angle? hindight is a nice thing
I like Johnson, he likes to get forward and as long as we've got cover that can only be a good thing, some on here will probably spend the season ripping him a new one if he's caught out of position though, even if it's a shit pass by someone else that leads to it

That incident said it all to me! I actually think all the other defenders we have would have coped better with that situation! It was awful defending and no excuses should be made, and he clearly shouldn't be considered for the Lpool game!

I really don't want to slag Glen off, because ultimately, he's our new right back and we need support him. He did, however, get rinsed for that goal and didn't really play well all game in fact. The ball over the top was causing him real problems.

I'd be shocked it he started over Geoff or Bardsley even for the Liverpool game to be honest. Not fit, not reading the game well and just getting training. From Hughes it sounds like he's getting as much of a run out as he can from him early to build his training up for a few matches into the season when we will most likely need a swap out for tiredness.
