It will do eventually Bish as a clever dude once said you can fool all of the people some of the time etc etc . The voters will suddenly realise that a succession of labour chancellors have been telling us that 2+2 = 5 What clever dude was that ? ...not Dennis Healy or Gordon Brown ....I thought not .... Actually Dennis Healy was the last decent labour chancellor

Some people you can fool all of the time it seems. I think he has too ......we are not so far apart as we supposed. Are we ?

Is clause 4 going to make a comeback? Jeremy Corbyn could bring back Labour’s clause IV on public ownershipWould certainly ensure there is a clear ideological space between Labour and the Tories. Would it improve Labour's prospects of being elected? I think not. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting. I think though that no matter who gets elected this leadership contest has handed the Tories (and their media friends) more than enough ammunition to pound Labour with in the next election. Labour I think are heading down a long dark road.

I think though that no matter who gets elected this leadership contest has handed the Tories (and their media friends) more than enough ammunition to pound Labour with in the next election. Labour I think are heading down a long dark road. The strange thing about all of these polls putting Corbyn in the lead is that (a) most of the members I know strongly dislike the idea of unilateral nuclear proliferation, and (b) realise that getting rid of Clause 4 made Labour electable and turned Labour into an electable Social Democratic Party. On housing and welfare Corbyn may have a point. If Labour elect Corbyn it'll be a retrograde step, electorally, and you very well may be right but at least it'll be a democratic choice. It's worth noting that the vast swathe of the party membership is moderate. The point of having Corbyn there, though, as part of the leadership debate is that Labour need to have that internal conversation. Cooper and Burnham are centre-left, Kendall is on the right of the party, Corbyn the left. The media focus on Corbyn because.......he's different from anyone else in politics at the moment. As a movement Labour haven't had a chance to have a philosophical rethink since Blair. Given that Blair is unpopular amongst the left of the party it's right that the whole party get to discuss that future direction and, if necessary, argue about it. Which is precisely what's happening. Clause 4 won't return to the Labour Manifesto. It's just part of a conversation.

Still if the majority of people are happy for Gideon to sell off everything on the cheap then so be it. I'm not.
