Brilliant 3 points to stop the rot. Keeps things ticking along.
Absolutely awful performance though. Uninspiring and flat for the majority.
Whelan awful again. Certainly not enjoying it as much as the second half of last season. Poles apart.

To put it into prespective they are a very good side and have the best defence in the league.

We were pretty poor throughout. You can only play if the other team let you, they closed us down very well and gave us no room, I repeat they are a very good side but as you said a great result.

It was a good, deserved win, we never gave up....i´m very happy with that. We missed with Bojan and Moses our 2 most valuable players in the offensive. With the early injury of Ireland you couldn´t expect that we turn the 0:1...but we did!!!! Southampton has a strong team.

First half was shit. No complaints about the second. I saw it the complete opposite - apart from the goals. First half we shaded it, let down by poor quality into the box, missed a sitter. Conceded a soft set piece goal. Mostly dominated the MF Second half we scored a bit of a fluke at the start, then for the next 35 minutes we could hardly get out of our half. Happily we got a break a few minutes from the end. I'm still drinking so there's still time for my point of view to change

Southampton had what, one shot on target and three shots total? We weren't great in possession, but I think that when you consider the opposition, that's a fair achievement. They also have a notoriously tight defence that we broke through twice.
I was a bit disappointed with the support today. We seemed to be up in arms and moaning about everything our players did.

Decent performance against an in form team and the result could easily have been 4-1. No complaints from me.

It was certainly a game that could have gone either way, but after the Palace and West Ham gams we probably desereved something soon!

Southampton are a very good side and have some top class players so to beat them was an excellent result.
We didn't play great but a lot of that was down to them. In some ways they showed what we're missing. Most obviously for me is someone to play alongside NZonzi who's faster, stronger, score and has better technique than Glen (not a critisicm of him but just that we need an upgrade)
and
Pace on at least one if not two of the wings which we could have with Moses and Odemwingie if fit.
On a positive note I thought Arnie was excellent today as was Mame whos beginning to show the critics that he's more than capable of leading the line. What really does worry me is our truelly hopeless set pieces both attacking and defending. Much that I love Ryan how many times does he win the ball from one of our corners and head it wide or over.
Still a great 3 points.

I'll take the three points all day long but we massively got away with a free one today.
We need a much better performance against a team fighting for their lives next week else we will get our pants pulled down.

Winning against a good side, whilst not playing well is hugely encouraging for us. I think Charlie made the difference today after coming on at half-time, his directness caused them problems.

We weren't lucky today at all, we played badly, but they created next to nothing and despite how bad we were we missed three sitters. So in fact they were lucky not to lose more comprehensively.
