Well it won't be WBA as Pulis will not accept a Head Coach /Technical director situation, and Peace will not divert away from that model. He doesn't appear to be top of the list for Palace. If Pardew jumps ship, would Newcastle take him? Who knows when Ashley is involved. I doubt Pulis would go there though. If Martinez goes at Everton, could they take him? Maybe, but somehow I doubt it. If Eddie Howe gets poached for a top club, maybe Bournemouth?

What an utterly pathetic thread about the second most successful manager in our history.
Seems too many don't like the taste of humble pie.
Shall we go through the big list of things that Tony Pulus would never achieve since he took over again?

True enough. Maybe PC is just getting better at it. I hope he doesn't have to test out his skills again in the near future ! My main point is that argument in football about what would have happened if............. is always irresolvable. TP did a brilliant job for us in my opinion, and then went on to win the Premier League Manager of the season elsewhere, which was great for him, whilst his successor was taking us to our highest PL finishing position, which was great for him, and us - so let's just celebrate it all and not have arguments about history which can never be proved either way. Sometimes you just get lucky and I guess that's what happened here. A number of situations came together and we're back in the prem. Whilst I'm grateful for him getting us back into the top flight, Pulis's incumbency has left me with a small degree of personal sadness. I bought 3 seats in the Boothen for me and my 2 lads in the hope as they get older and develop lives of their own we would still have something that would keep bringing us together but towards the end of the binary season my youngest, who was only 11 at the time, the boredom was so bad that he told me he really didn't want to go anymore and I felt cruel subjecting him to it. Despite many attempts to get him to come back he's got out of the habit and found other things to do as he now prefers to play rather than watch. He does go to the odd game when he and his mates can get seats together (!). Despite all the good things I can't bring myself to forgive TP for that. Personally, I wouldn't get too worried about a youngster preferring to play footy ( assuming it is footy he "plays" ! )rather than watching. If anything, I actually now rather regret that when I was young I did too much watching and not enough playing. It won't do his health any harm. So long as he's not just watching the box or playing computer games ! But, hey, who am I to lecture you about your kids As someone who has gone with my daugther for nearly 30 years, I can understand your disappointment, but might it not have happened anyway regardless of the manager ? It's a personal thing, but I don't fully get the boredom/exciting football thing when I'm watching Stoke. I want Stoke City to win, and if we can't win, to draw, which to me is much more important than the style of football. I'd always rather have a "boring" 1-0 win than a "flowing" 3-3 draw. And it has always irritated me when MOTD pundits patronisingly praise teams at the lower end of the league for going to Arsenal or wherever and trying to play it the so-called "right way" whilst they get stuffed 5-2 or whatever. I love watching "flair" players ( and haven't we just got a new one of those ) as much as the next fan and of course it was TP who gave us years of Fuller, a flair player if ever there was one, but I also think that constantly passing it around in your own half can be very boring, and long balls and long throw ins into the opponents last third can be very exciting. But I also love us keeping clean sheets in the Premier League, and really enjoy solid defending, so I'll rarely complain too much about a 0-0 - particularly away from home. I thought TP did a great job, even at the end, to keep us out of trouble in the PL and I think MH is doing the same.

I feel no need to offer any more gratitude than I have. That's done. It's in the past, and as you say, he's been amply rewarded. What I find odd is that it seems fine to mention Pulis in a negative sense but the second anybody mentions him in a positive light the old "living in the past" card gets played. Seems a tad hypocritical to me. I think some people are just getting a bit sensitive here. So what if people are saying they don't want him back? It's neither negative nor disrespectful imho. We've moved on. I don't have a problem with the daily Pulis threads, but you can't expect everyone to remember him so fondly. For some he eventually sucked the life out of the match day experience, that's just personal opinion. I don't think anyone will disagree that he did a good job up until the last 12 months, some might say right until the end in fact. H But have "we" moved on? My point is that some people (not necessarily you) are quick to beat down those who dare to refer to Pulis in a positive way but are quick to land a cheap shot at virtually any opportunity. I've been told often enough to "move on" when in reality all I'm doing is reacting to what I see as unnecessary and, in some cases, disrespectful comments about a manager who is currently my second favourite modern manager (albeit an out of work one). I make no apology for my fondness for Pulis, that said I'm delighted we have Hughes and, for me, it was the right time to move Tone on and Hughes was absolutely the right man to come in. As much as my focus is on Stoke and Hughes I find it hard to leave cheap jibes at Pulis go without the odd cheap retaliatory jibe of my own. Childish maybe but it makes me feel better!

Took us back to the top flight and steadied the ship. Also got us to an FA cup final and will forever have a special place in the history of Stoke City Football Club in my opinion!

And in virtually everyone else's opinion as well. That's why he has a prime place in the background image on our desktop website. But he's been gone over eighteen months and has been replaced by a manager who's doing an excellent job. Tony Pulis should never be airbrushed from our history, but does he have to be the topic of conversation every other frigging day? Especially the day we hit 54 points for the calendar year, our best total since promotion and in no small way down to the efforts of our current manager.

Rob Draper ?@draper_rob 6 mins6 minutes agoHearing Pardew + #cpfc pretty much agreed. Guess there could be odd glitch tmrw but seems it will happen. More on mailonline I was reading it'd cost Palace £6m in compo to get him out of that contract? Jonathan Wilson has said a few times on Football Weekly that whilst Pardew's contract is long it is very heavily made up from bonus payments and that he's actually the lowest paid manager in the division in terms of basic, specifically to make him feasibly sackable.

I'd just like to say that some of those moderators themselves set a fine example in attempting to eliminate the need to talk about Tony Pulis every friggin day too. I mean it's not as if they themselves have a cheap shot is it thus lighting the paper that little bit more?.
The saying 'practice what one preaches' springs to mind.
