Wilshere was absolute pish. His trouble is he thinks he's a modern day Gazza when in actual fact he isn't fit to clean Gazza's boots.

So once you time waste then you can't break away? I didn't say they sat in the corner since the goal. But the fact we got booked for it proves my point. I'm sorry i don't have your incredible knowledge. Just wait til we play a decent team. We did tonght Suppose it shows how lowly we now are! Sadly Same league now as Slovakia, Estonia and Norway.

Those Arsenal press boys get everywhere..... Matt Hughes ?@matthughestimes Player ratings: top marks of 8 for Welbeck, Sterling, Roo & Wilshere, 7 for Cahill, Hart & Baines, 6 for Stones, Hend & Delph, 5 for Jones. John Cross ?@johncrossmirror Milner on for Wilshere. Wilshere was excellent. Very difficult to separate him and Rooney. I think they have been England's best players. Fuck me what were they watching, Wilshere was the worst player on the pitch closely followed by Stones, as for the best it would have to be Delph and Welbeck for me.

I counted 4 times in a row towards the end of the first half that Wilshere got the ball and gave it straight to Switzerland. He was the worst player on the pitch, for either side. I thought Rooney played well, as did Welbeck and Sterling. That linesman was shocking in the second half though.

So I actually enjoyed watching that. Am I in the minority then? I to enjoyed and was really encouraged by the performance against a good switzerland team that have not lost at home for four years, and did well in the world cup. Give the kiddies and woy time to grow together i say.

sterling our best player again tonight, thought delph did well after an iffy start Quite impressed with Delph once he calmed down and stopped diving in all over the place. Put it down to the fact that he was pumped up and a little over excited He never hid and always made himself available for the ball, also tried to move forward with it as well which I liked. Out of interest, what's his disciplinary record like for your lot?

Loves a tackle though which I can't fault him

Oh dear. Wilshere was "excellent" was he. Thought he was as usual one of the worst on the pitch. Thought it was his best game in a England shirt for a long time me sen.

Hodgson "You can't expect players on their debuts or early on in their international careers not to make some mistakes." Hypocrisy at its finest. Seriously what a twat he is isn't he? How much more obvious does his hatred of Stoke have to be?

England are not in a division, it is just luck of the draw. Switzerland are the best team in the group and we comfortably beat them. Stoke are not the best team in the league, fa cup or league cup yet we still believe we can win something. Why cant we believe england can win something when in comparison have a better chance.

How much more obvious does his hatred of Stoke have to be? Yes, he's a dull, boring, limp rag of a man who seems to think that a team of Premier League players should be treated like some sort of International Youth Academy or something. He lacks vision, and the ability to bring the best out of what should be very good players given the league in which they ply their trade and the wages that they command. That and the fact that he will not give Ryan a chance makes it very hard for me to see anything worthwhile in him being England manager, tbh.....other than the fact that he most likely doesn't have any skeletons in his closet which the media can feed upon...boring but safe.

Fair play to Welbeck in the 2nd half, for the first time ever I shall complement him, pace and composure in attack and overall did well.
But no one can tell me that Wilshere played well. He couldn't pass a ball 5 yards. Utter utter shite.

Refreshing start to the new campaign. It's pleasing to win a fiddly away game in relative comfort.
Most of all the England fans deserve this result.

Really decent performance tonight and a deserved result. I agree with others that Delph improved as the game went on but he committed three fouls in the first half that could've all been bookable offences. I actually thought Stones did fine as well to be honest, Switzerland posed us more of a threat down Baines' side throughout the game than they did down the right. Realistically now we should be aiming for 30 points from this qualifying campaign, tonight was our biggest test and we came through it comfortably. Well done Hodgson and the players.

Early on Delph was desperate to impress but his eagerness was misplaced. Remember though, flying into tackles like that is the 'passion' many drone on about.

Lads, Well done tonight. Very good job to go in there and get a tough result away in a hostile stadium against a very well organized Swiss side. It is good for the global game when England is laying well.

I thought Stones was shocking to be honest. He's a centre back playing at full back and (as is the case with a lot of cb's at full back) it doesn't suit him. Drifted inside far too much when he was defending and stood far too far off his man. I saw a lot of things which made me optimistic tonight - but Stones at right back was not one of them. Nor was Wilshere in midfield. I'm not saying he is the next Gary Neville but he wasn't the worst player on the pitch by a long shot. He was a little bit naive when passing forward but his overall defensive performance for me was very good given his limited experience. In fact, even though we should always beat the likes of Switzerland, I enjoyed the whole game and thought it was a good watch. I get the same kick out of watching England as I do with Stoke though. He was the worst england player by some margin. Dreadful touch, regularly out of position and seemed to have no diea where he anted to pass the ball. He may turn out to be a decent centre back but he is not a right back and looks like what he is, a very inexperienced, promising footballer. It is unarguable that a back four with Jones at right Back and one of Shawcross, Caulker or Davies at centre back would have been stronger. Not necessarily true for Jagielka and Chambers

A decent result away from home but still some major issues.
Stones - must be a centre half cos he is def not a full back! People slate him but johnson way better in that position at the minute.
Jones - looks permanently on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Im no jagielka fan but he is far superior and lets not even starting on about ryan.
Henderson - currently underrated. Does the unspectacular stuff but as theres nothing flashy he get too harshly criticised. Should have been play where wilshere was.
Wilshere - gets worse and worse. Is not and never will be a holding midfielder. Passing hit and miss. Cant stay on his feet. Awful.
Welbeck - never going be a shearer but works his nuts off and has happy habit of getting goals when he gets game time.
