Absolutely brilliant ..Nello is a stoke legend ..I was brought up on stories about Neil by me Dad ...whilst he wasn't the kit boy when dad played...he was well known and loved by the players ..

Was that the game we were winning and then had Ronnie sent off. I was there for that one but can't for the life of me recall Nello coming on as a chicken. We may have been losing. Can remember the golden one scoring a penalty.

Great film and amazing to see a man with such a positive outlook on life, i think we all need to be a little bit like Nello.

Burslem’s top TV and film critic has reviewed it on One Vale Fan and come up with the following incisive analysis: Guppy 4 England – “Turned it off after about 10 mins , c rap.” In fairness the vast majority of Vale fans are hugely positive about it and this fella had some fun poked at him. I salute this Vale poster for the following riposte: “And our thanks go to the Television critic of the Boslem Beano!! You would go mad on here with anyone who past judgement on a 90 minute Vale performance if they'd left after the first 10 minutes!” ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

There was one part that resonated with me and that was when he was walking up the street with his mum and he described a lad he saw as his good friend. His mum said she had never heard of that name and he responded by saying that he had met him the day before.
3 days after I first met nello he was chatting to my law lecturer and he introduced me with something along the lines of "this is my good friend johnno. He's a massive Stokie, a good lad and he is going to play in goal for my team."
We hadn't even discussed his team but he knew I played for the university 1st team and he roped me in.

I think that it was a really clever film. It was told in a unique way; well, I can't recall a film with a ukulele group, the real-life characters popping in from time to time and a clip of real people chanting the star's name before.
They could have easily messed it up by over egging the bad moments (when real Neil brushed off any banter that would be considered completely unacceptable in today's world, it made you realise how much easier life is if you just don't let things bother you) or taking Neil's quotes too seriously (I loved when Macari said he would write down Neil's sayings in jest), but the whole thing worked so well. Original and memorable. A bit like the man himself really.

Was that the game we were winning and then had Ronnie sent off. I was there for that one but can't for the life of me recall Nello coming on as a chicken. We may have been losing. Can remember the golden one scoring a penalty. Sinclair was carried off after damaging knee ligaments challenging for a high ball with Steve Fletcher in the 46th minute, so Foghorn went in goal. Steino scored a penalty in the with just over 20 minutes left after he'd been tripped by Alex Watson. But Efan Ekoku muscled his way through in the 89th minute and sent home an angled shot from 12 yards to equalise. Gleghorn said: "I'm annoyed at that, for it cost me a clean sheet. That's the fifth time I've gone in goal in an emergency so I'm used to it. "I occasionally do a bit in goal in training during five-a-sides just to keep my hand in for circumstances like these." Gleghorn's first touch with the gloves was to catch a sliced Ian Cranson clearance, which went high and backwards. Surprisingly, referee Roger Hamer penalised City under this season's new law and awarded Bournemouth a free-kick 12 yards out. Stoke were forced to pull everyone back to block Neil Masters' shot off the line. There's an iconic pic of that I'll stick on Twitter.

Hello. Everton fan in peace.
I watched Marvellous last night, before which I had never heard of Nello. Just wanted to come on and say how fantastic if was to see all your supporters chanting for him at the end. It seems you were asked to get to the ground early so you could chant his name. Well, you certainly didn't let him down!
Great to see in a corporate world there is still family.
Fantastic.

Some wonderful comments on there at the bottom, all thoroughly deserved. Watched it with my two lads when we got in from playing poker, I'd pre-warned them I was likely to get summat in my eye..
"Has anyone else noticed- for once in a Graun comments section, there is almost no disagreement about anything. This if nothing else should tell others what they missed. Broody Blilliant it were."

I have just had a text from Malcolm Clarke. He and Neil watched the film last night on the big screen at Keele Uni. The BBC are currently doing a documentary on Neil and are following him everywhere - including to Monday's match! Apparently it is the new freshers mart at Keele on Monday. Queues at the NBFC stall are expected to be long! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/3zptH1h3SvRnVmRGLyMP.gif)

As a lifelong Stoke fan, and always well aware of Nello's time with Lou etc, I knew I was going to enjoy this programme (almost "come what may") so it is REALLY pleasing to see just how many fans of other clubs enjoyed it too. Indeed, I don't think you need to be a footie fan to have enjoyed what was a marvellous (sorry!) piece of TV entertainment. I laughed and cried in equal measure and I challenge anyone not to be inspired by Neil Baldwin's outlook on life. "I just wanted to be 'appy, so I am". Marvellous! Bloody Marvellous!! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif) p.s. can we have Uriah Rennie as ref on Monday night please? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

We need to record 'Inside Out' on BBC1 7:30 Monday night as they are showing a feature on Nello. That is presumably the BBC crew following Neil everywhere at the moment - see my post about my text from Malcolm Clarke - 3 posts above this one.

We need to record 'Inside Out' on BBC1 7:30 Monday night as they are showing a feature on Nello. I presume this is the West Midlands version of Inside Out. I believe every region shows its own edition.
