How do we get this film nominated for a BAFTA? I wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated. It wasn't just a wonderful story, brilliantly acted - but there was some really innovative TV work in there as well such as the actor Nello talking to the real Nello. That sort of thing gets attention link

Never trust a man who doesn't like his food :-)
Brilliant.
Nello got me the red shorts for that kit as they didn't sell them in those days.
Great viewing for a stoke fan, keele graduate, an ex player for Neil Baldwin fc and friend of Nello's.
Marvellous!

It was that good even Mrs Bamber watched it from start to finish - and she doesn't do football at all. Must be due an award of some kind. Best factual program? Best actor? My lady hates nogger but she loved that, even had a tear or two down her cheek.

Why we pay for our Tv Licences - right there. Just had the priviledge of watching 'marvellous', a wonderful humbling heartwarming story, beautifully told and enacted about a very, very special man and his truly unique life story.
Something that brings people together in admiration - seeing a man who, only sees the very best in everybody around him.
The world would be a far, far better place with a few more Nellos around
god bless him !

One of the funniest scenes was when Nello was wearing all the underpants! That definitely happened at Tranmere, and I'm pretty sure the player in question was Martin Carruthers.

Neil Baldwin and Marvellous both trending on Twitter. Tweets from Alan Sugar, Robbie Savage and Gary Lineker amongst others. Great reaction to a great programme about a great man. It's incredible, Twitter is going insane with plaudits gushing from every direction. Fully deserved mind.

'I wanted to be happy, so I was' is a quote that will still with me forever and something I will endeavour to follow. Thanks for that Nello! I think that quote's going to stick with a lot of us. I really want to say something profound, but can't think of anything that would match what we've all just watched. Spent the entire hour and a half on the verge of tears. Brilliant.

Funniest bit for me was after he scored the bullet-header in the testimonial and Jones asks Neil if it really happened like that. Neil's intonation when casually answering "no" was a moment of subtle genius. Just perfect. I wouldn't at all be surprised if that moment was completely spontaneous and unconscious to everyone concerned.

Excellent biopic on the man. Great TV Happy memories - shame he didn't score in Sid Cowans testimonial at Villa Park. as i remember it they didn't let him! i believe they actually did, but Tony Kelly knicked the ball and scored himself i think Not quite. The ball from the corner was played along the ground for Nello to score at the far post. The Villa defence moved out, but as the ball was played Tony Kelly rushed in at the near post & missed it. Nigel Spink just turned around to the Stoke fans & shrugged his shoulders. Looks like everyone knew what was happening bar Kelly. Even the Villa fans wanted Nello to score!
