Biddulph - bizarro weather Left the house 20 mins ago, force 10 gale and heavy rain, went into the shop, came out and it's now a bit gusty but bright sunshine. People mentioning the WBA game, it was far far worse than this! Not at the Brit it wasn't. Wait till you get there!

The closure will affect stations in Lancaster, Oxenholme and Penrith. Looking a bit windy here in Chester and given that the Brit is wonderfully open to a butterflies wing flap is the game still on?

The wind in crewe is really getting up now, I can see the game being called off if it is like this in stoke.

There was than a further lashing of it during the game. I know it's more about public safety than about customer satisfaction but wind ruins a game far more than snow. It'll be ridiculous if it's anything like what's forecast. The Man United cup game was bad enough, this is on another level. Also the M6 closed at Junction 19 now. A good 40/50 miles away but not a good sign.

To be fair, there was a shitload of snow for a bit in Stoke yesterday yet nothing in Crewe. However, I can't believe it'll be that much different in regards to wind speed from Crewe to Stoke and it's fucking horrible at the moment. Really whistling and blowing an absolute monster of a gale.

While there's the subject of bad weather conditions in recent years i still struggle to understand how, 2 years ago this very month Stoke City 0-1 Sunderland took place. Easy and biased to say "It should have been postponed" because we lost and Huth got sent off but at the time, pre-match, trying to get to the match, being at the match, trying to get home after the match i just thought it was an atrocious decision to let that game go ahead. At half time i went out for a smoke and i still feel shivers of cold when i think about how appalling the weather was. Not only for the match, which was a bit of a farce but with folk worrying about traveling for both sets of supporters, it was infinitely more hazardous that day than today. In my opinion, i guess i'll wait until tonight and if i die, like Stafford' believes people will, then i'll be on here first thing tomorrow and won't i look a fool. Speaking to you from the grave. Compared with the weather conditions that day today is quite pleasant.

Weather (see what I did there) or not the game is on tonight, the wind is going to play a huge part. It'll either be really enjoyable or a complete waste of time.

I remember the Sunderland game at home, had trouble getting home that night. Also Arsenal away, i was in Camden town when it started to snow there, must have been an hour or two later and the game was called off. It was then full of Stokies making the most of the day and had a good knees up around London. One of my best away days bizzarley. Mayhem getting the late train back to Stoke though. Was that the game when Huth got sent off? It took 2 hours to get home to Stone that night it was chaos. I also remember catering ran out of tea cups before half time it was a complete joke.

If Everton and Mancs are on then we will be, unless the holes in the corners create a wind tunnel!!!

For any Stokies or Swans for that matter driving northbound M5 please take extra care around Jcn 4 Northbound M5 towards Jcn 3. Its a higher point of the Motorway(before Frankley Services) and its absolute horrendous driving wise with cross winds.
Safe journeys everyone

Problems all over Meir Heath. Roads closed due to fallen trees and debris.
Worst weather likely to be between 6pm and 7pm.
Anchor Rd, Longton closed due to fallen tree.
Take care tonight, everyone.

Some of the gusts are getting ridiculous. The hedge is virtually horizontal and the wheelie bin's just gone bouncing down the street. Looks like we might miss some of the crazy, crazy winds they're going to get in the red zone around Blackpool, Preston etc. The Everton game could be played in even barmier conditions. But met office are still indicating 60mph gusts from 6pm onwards.

I've got to be honest, as much as I look forward to going, I'd be in favour of a postponement tonight.
The game is going to be a farce and people travelling any type of significant distance are going to go through the wringer just to get there and back.

As we're not now going Ben and I have decided to get some tins from Bargain Booze and watch the match on our lap tops, thing is, Bargain Booze is only at the end of the street and neither of us have got the bottle to walk there. Really, really bad here now.
